LCD FAINT DASHBOARD & SPEEDOMETER
Discussion
Hi,
had my original LCD screen replaced just after i bought the car, new screen is set on a dark contrast that lightens up after it heats up. Was told this is a standard issue with them, this was supplied by racing green. bit of advice, if you are changing the screen, make a note of the mileage displayed. I luckily did this prior to it being removed, as mine lost all memory..
with regards to the speedo needle, when mine gets hot it starts to play up, believe it could be something to do with the stepper motor slipping inside the pinion gear as the plastic expands quicker than the metal. I live with this and only read the speed of the digital read out as i have always found this more true

Thanks Mark. Very helpful.

Dani, replacing the LCD should cure the fading and lines. At least in mine it did. I sometimes get a little screen fade if it is very cold in the morning, but nowhere near as much as before. I also operate the screen with the darkest contrast.
Note there was a member on here that developed a new LCD screen for the Tamora that did not suffer from any fade, and could be read in all sunny conditions. He seemed reluctant to attempt a Tuscan screen as it was a different shape and he had nothing to work from. I did offer him my old LCD screen as a test bed, but he never took up the offer. Perhaps if there is enough demand from the Tuscan forum, so that the financial incentive is there, we can convince him to design one for us. What do you think?
His name is Lee350T

I was about to post about Lee.
I've not met the guy and am awaiting my Tamora dash as I type - should be here tomorrow. Those that have received previous screens can't fault the product. What I would say is that he is spread pretty thin and seems to have sporadic time on projects. His communication is woeful but I did order a screen and it is on it's way so the end goal is close.
I suggest that if one person from the Tuscan hive is prepared to feel out the group and then approach Lee with rough numbers and an item to inspect then this may produce a robust solution to the Tuscan dash issues.

So I only need to change the whole unit screen or the LCD Display?? Sorry to ask a million questions...

What does he actually do? Has he got TVR background??

slightly confused about what you are asking. the LCD screen in the centre of the pod that is fading is replacable on its own, just involves pod removal
however, if you are not losing lines in the display (as i was) i would go into the pod settings first and darken it with the contrast settings to see if this helps (do this when its cold and set it as dark as you can without not being able to see it).
My new one supplied by Racing Green fades when it gets hot, so i have the contrast adjusted to the point where it is almost unreadable on the coldest of morings, but after a couple of minutes it fine and at its hottest its perfect ledgible

Thanks, yes, the screen fades badly when it's in use for over an hour and the speedo needle just stops.

I have to do the contrast to as dark as possible thing as well on mine so it lightens up with use.
Also once the speedo has stopped does it work again if you switch the car off and back on or do you have to wait until later (I.e. Until the car has cooled down)?
Does it also reset to zero or always go back to 10?

As soon as the car has cooled down, both work fine. Looking on other threads I have found a cheaper company called Pacer that sell this product. Cheaper than all the dealerships.
Still waiting on final price but won't be the £150-185 that other companies are charging.
Always nice to have a bargain. Will let you know when I have changed the contrast as I'm driving to Sandbanks this weekend so a nice 2 hours journey is this lovely weather.

The stuff he makes for TVRs he does on the side. The LCD screens in the classifieds are his. They are for Tams, T350s and Sags and different to Tuscans. He's just finished a run of them.As said above the LCD screen is just a screen. His versions are more powerful, clearer, more defined. That is, you cansee the information in direct sun light. They are just a better product to the standard item.
I should contact him.

Rather looking forward to hearing your thoughts on your screen.
I'll contact him and see if he contact me within a day's. Failing that I'll just buy another one from Pacer. I'm reluctant to pull it out and have it sent out though.
Let me know when you install it and end product buddy. Thanks

Read first post. He doesn't have a Tuscan dash so has nothing to prototype against. A spare is available from another member.
Also note my comments about his comms. I had no confirmation that he was making one for my Tam just an email saying it was ready for delivery.
