So I book my 2010 e500 Coupe into the local main dealer for it's first service since I bought it. Unfortunately there is water in the passenger footwell and also the nearside door look has an intermittent fault and doesn't work sometimes with the key, so I asked them to take a look while doing the service.
Dropped the car off at 8 as soon as the dealership opened and asked if it could be ready at around 4ish. I ring back after 3:30 to be informed there was water in the passenger footwell and they were going to contact me, as though I hand't actually asked them to look into this. I then asked if they had had a look at the nearside look to be informed they had cleared the fault codes and it seemed to be working. My translation of that was they hand't actually looked at the lock mechanism itself, but I may be wrong.
Further discussion led to me realising that although they had the car for over 7 hours they had not done anything to identify the possible source of the leak as they "were going" to contact me to identify who was paying for that work. I decided to go down and collect the car, I would admit to not being that happy so far. When I got there the keys were handed over after a brief discussion that was going nowhere so I asked how much did I owe for the service. I was then asked "What service?"!!!!! They hand't serviced the car at all.
My impression, and I may be wrong, was that they had the car for a whole day, with me having the inconvenience of dropping it off and subsequently collecting the car, taking time out of my working day to do so and the total work done on the car was "cleared the fault codes on the door lock".
I was introduced to the manager, whose response was "I'm sorry". That was his total response, no solution, no we will book it in immediately, discount of the next service, collect the car or any other means to help me with the inconvenience.
Solution, it's booked in at MB Tech in Warrington now. Thats a 15 miles to the east of where I live, but I should have known to use a independent specialist. I used MW Performance in Chester for my Monaro, and they were brilliant. I should have learned the lesson!

To be fair, that's a bit of an odd experience.

One of my complaints about the dealer I use is it takes an absolute age to drop the car off - never less than 30 mins, as they pedantically go through every step of what they're going to do.
