So, as is usually the case in these situations, Edinburger has vanished.
Anyone care to speculate when he will return? My money is on some time over the weekend. Of course, when he does come back he will COMPLETELY ignore the points made to him by myself and others, and will more than likely post a link to a nonsense story which he will nevertheless describe as "interesting" .

director of business for scotland is alledgedly a crook.
Nothing allegedly about it. The smoking gun exists in the form of the Law Society investigation into her lawyer's handling of her business. Just a matter of the relevant authorities poring over the evidence and getting their acts into gear. Hales did not defend any of the accusations and has been struck-off. The investigation connects Thomson with evidence of mortgage fraud and consequential tax evasion.

Also a bit stinky that Sturgeon is denying all knowledge as this can only mean she is massively naive or utterly mendacious. Thomson was a 'known quantity' already (her son had been arrested for alleged firearms offences in relation to gang/drug issues) and she was 'outed' in the Ashley Madison leak. The information regarding her business dealings was floating around already, so who decided to raise it to prominence in the media?

I think this has more to do with the Teflon coating of the SNP starting to peel and the regimented control of information within the SNP ranks starting to falter. A 'senior SNP MSP' has said to expect more exposures like these.

Those who claim to be of a higher moral standing have further to fall...

Sturgeon's defence at FMQs seemed to be that as Thomson is no longer an SNP MP (because resigned the whip) it's nothing to do with her. laugh

I thought Kezia and Ruth did a good job today at FMQ's; I particularly liked the quote which has surfaced from SNP Social Justice Minister Alex Neil (on Michelle Thomson) - "She had an excellent grasp of the economic picture but also demonstrated commitment to how business can be used to support social justice". I'm not sure the couple who were desperate to sell their house as a result of terminal cancer would agree with Thomson's commitment to social justice.

Quite apart from the moral dimension, having read an in-depth report on her solicitors travails which directly implicate his client, Thomson really is staring down the barrel of a custodial sentence.

That really would be delicious.

Edit: I now read she's got Aamar Anwar defending her. I'm not looking forward to weeks of that whiny wee runts smug face all over the news, again.

Yesterday the national news was filled with this...

Record fine for nuisance calls firm

Today it comes out that SNP Energy Minister Fergus Ewing was one of the founders of the parent company, and that an arm of SNP government had given the company £200,000 in grants.

Social Justice my Arse.

Nothing like blowing money on ste when it should be used to tackle important things like, oooh, foodbanks for instance. the £3m spunked on the A9 average speed cameras is another fine example. Social justice appears to be just fine, as long at it serves the socio-economic environment of SNP ministers and pumps the members of public it is supposed to protect.

I've said it before and it bears repeating. Foodbanks will not be eradicated but instead will be maintained by the SNP as they are a symbol of the victim society narrative the SNP rely on and a reference point for their vacuous rhetoric.

They have almost achieved mythical status, yet no-one has done any research on the demographic of the people who use them and whether they actually represent a failing in a welfare system.

A prediction - even though it is within the power of the Scottish Government to eradicate foodbanks now as all of them have charitable status, the SNP will wait until the additional devolved powers over welfare (that they say they don't want) are passed so that they can get rid of foodbanks then and call it a success.

No precedent at all for the SNP to profit politically or financially from misery, is there?

Yep exactly - sorry that my earlier post didn't come across with the relevant level of victim carding wink I was on my way to a meeting.

If they eradicate the foodbanks (as we all know they could in a stroke) then that's one less thing to blame Westmonster/the English for... hehe

No gimmicks, just 10 good reasons why Scotland shouldn’t leave the UK.

A technocratic analysis of the reasons. Many will be unpalatable to the 'dreamers' but reason #1 particularly took my interest...

John Lloyd said:
It would mean nationalism – the call to old loyalties deeper than any civic and cross-national identities – would win. The Scots nationalists are nothing like the proto-fascist groups at large in Europe: indeed, their party is social democratic, liberal in social policy. But the demons unleashed will be stronger than their politics.
Precisely the point I made earlier in this thread about the legitimate comparison between the consequences of the SNPs actions and Nazi/post-Communism Eastern European type extremism that would be unleashed in the form of the barely repressed sectarian element of Scotland (many of whom still project their own grievances on to the issue).

In fairness to Yessers everywhere even I'm not convinced by a good number of the reasons provided in the link above.

Obama wants Europe to do this and that, for instance - who fkin' cares what he thinks? The yankee knobber doesn't give a tom tit about the UK, ahole.

ONE Morning ??

I have been thinking that since before the referendum.

They have divided the nation, they have made health care and education worse than it has been in my memory, in the name of fairness they have actually benefitted the wealthy over the poor, prescriptions were always free to pensioners and people on welfare, now the richest in the land get it too, free university education, again the poor got assistance and the wealthy paid, now it is free for all and we have the highest drop out rate in the country, why ? Because if it is free you do not have to make such a commitment.

SNP, the ruination of Scotland.

Unfortunately, many of them are now living in a dream world utterly disconnected from the reality of the SNP, and waking them from it is going to be very difficult.

The Michelle Thomson scandal really should be the nail in the coffin for the SNP for any right thinking person who previously thought they were either competent or sincere in their social justice agenda because at precisely the same time the SNP were going public on their decision to end right-to-buy for council tenants they were appointing someone who had amassed millions gaming the scheme as a candidate for the General Election, and then their Business spokesperson.

This from M&F Property's webshop 'Your Property Shop'

YPS Website said:
WHAT ABOUT FORMER COUNCIL PROPERTIES?

These are our favourites! Many Scots have traditionally lived in a local authority house and the council house stock has, in the main, been very well looked after. Throughout Scotland, there are thousands of very good council estates or former council areas. Many of our investors from England have been surprised at the standard of ex-council property and the estates in which they are situated.

Our favourites are three bed ex-local authority council houses because they are affordable, plentiful in supply and are in huge demand by the rental market. Usually families rent this type of home and tend to stay for a long time. They provide excellent cash flow too – all in all a sound investment!

WHY SHOULD I INVEST IN SCOTLAND?

HUGE EX LOCAL AUTHORITY STOCK: The majority of Scots historically lived in rented council houses and there have traditionally been a greater proportion of people renting than the UK average. But with the advent of ‘right to buy’ during the Thatcher era, many Scots took advantage of the policy and bought their council home for a knock down price. Many of these same homeowners find themselves now with huge equity in their homes and are able to sell at hugely discounted rates and still pocket a handsome profit. So a ‘win win’ for both the vendor and the investor. Yippee!!
The website has obviously now been taken down to try and hide the embarrassing evidence, but it is still available for the moment in Google cache.

For Nicola Sturgeon to now claim that the SNP did not know about this is a damning indictment of their fitness to govern whether her claims are true or not, but sadly the issue is too complex for their knuckledgragging support to understand.

At this moment in time I couldn't give a stuff what any of the SNP apologists have to say in response to this as there is nothing to say. Their votes either wilfully or ignorantly went to a party that was not competent enough to select people to represent the views of their party correctly when the evidence about their chosen candidate was clearly and publicly available to them.

ETA: Another Day, Another Scandal.

It seems what is coming to bear is that the SNP thought they could play politics on the back of a single issue. It got them so far and for many it is still enough, but with that single issue stalled they are going to have to clean up their act sooner rather than later.
