Hi,

Really late on the bandwagon this year, as we're only just buying our tickets now.

We're camping at Beausejour - one car, 3 people.

My question is - if we buy x1 pitch, are we able to park our car next to that pitch or do we need to buy an additional pitch for extra space the car will take up?

Thanks,
Alex

The pitch is big enough for your car too, you have to be able to fit everything within the set boundaries. Depending on how much space you want you can buy another - We have two but have a bloody great caravan.

Generally the car has to go on the pitch too, however last time i was on BSJ it seemed to just be a bit of a free for all. Was 5 or 6 years ago though. I'm sure a more recent BSJ resident will be along soon.
I have seen campsite staff walking around complaining about poorly parked cars.

I've not camped at BSJ for many years but there were never any enforced pitch sizes when we did and walking round there last year it didn't look like there were either. The further back you are from the front generally more space you can nab. Will depend when you turn up.

I've camped at Houx Annexe in numbered pitches for the last couple of years and previously at Karting Nord where they have the same setup. The campsite officials do check the boundaries and if a car is blocking the route to other campsite pitches they do ask to ask you to move it. When it gets nearer to Friday the atmosphere seems to relax as everyone has turned up. I also find the majority of fellow campers, once setup don't mind if you share a bit of space anyway.

The question i need an answer to is, do you need a campsite permit in the window of every vehicle you intend to park on your pitch?

This year we might need to bring 3 cars but have only purchased 2 Houx Annexe pitches but i'm not sure you can park a car (or even access the campsite) unless it has a permit in the window?

Yeah. You won't be able to get it on the site unless you've a pass for it. They'll scan it in and scan it out so no double-bubble either as if it's registered as "in" you can't bring it in again. One pitch=one car.

You can probably still get your hands on a car parking pass without too much trouble, then just pick one of the cars to be relegated to the parking.

Camped on BJR last 7 years and remains a free for all especially in far flung corners. May change this year if it's true they have sold out there. Just careful if you leave a generous gap between you and neighbours as inevitably a French Friday night/ Saturday morning arriver will set up camp in said gap

I'm assuming that means Beausejour, normally abbreviated to BSJ, perhaps there was a slip of the finger or auto correct made it wrong. There was a scare over the BH weekend that they had sold out but there are tickets available now. They might become unavailable again if the ticket office is closed and there is nobody about to add some more into the system.

I don't know whether they scan your tickets on the way in / out but if they don't, you could drive in and pass the ticket over the fence or buy a ticket from any of the people who don't leave the campsite until the end of the race

Thanks for the answer to the campsite permit q's. I'll look into getting a parking permit.

Thanks for the answers, we're going to be arriving Friday evening so will probably have to fight for a space by the sounds of it!
