Century for Williamson. Well played. Got to it within 2 overs of play. Can focus on his innings fully now.

Rain stops play. If it swings when play resumes then Anderson will surely pick up a few. The forecast is overcast for the rest of the match. I think if NZ are anything less than 100 ahead after their first innings then they'll struggle in their second. Surely our top order can't play that badly twice in a row.

How long do you reckon Cook will last, Until Close tonight?

Come on Cooky, get a proper innings here.

Lyth gone. Smacked 3 boundaries of Boult, who finally gets it right.

Ballance clean bowled. What a beauty from Southee. England top order crumbling, again.....

Well, it is pretty hard to see England getting anything from the game now. Must surely be going down here.

100 behind, 2 down already, and confidence is pretty low. I know we have a decent middle, but I am unconvinced our bowlers can do NZ for less than 350.

Plenty of time left for NZ to slowly strangle us.

On a brighter note than most, Lyth has scored 19 more runs on debut than Graham Gooch managed on his.

Realistically, we need to bat through most of tomorrow and hope that the pitch deteriorates and that there is some swing in the air on Monday.

I'd be cautious of looking at New Zealand as a proxy for an Australian performance, a lot of New Zealand pitches are similar to an English pitch so probably enjoy a slight advantage over Australia when playing in England. Also as the teams don't play as often it's more difficult to gauge their relative strengths.

Good game so far. The Kiwis have a few kinks they need to work on as well.

Maybe a 200 plus lead is possible from here, but I am unconvinced we can get anything except a draw or a loss here, unless Jimmy or Broad are able to really switch up a gear from the 1st innings

Cracking contest between Southee and Stokes.

3 bouncers - 3 thick top edges for 6 , 6 and 4

Afternoon and tea sessions first of the match Ive got to watch and highly enjoyable smile
