R53 inner rear side panel removal guide??

Tomorrow my job is to replace the pants stereo with some decent 6" Alpines up front and a set of 6x9 Alpines in the rear with new head unit, amp etc. My car didn't have the HK upgrade and besides this will sound a lot better.
Whilst I have found many guides to door card removal for the fronts I can't find anything to help me remove the rear cards and hence speakers. A cursory look suggests the rear panel extends to the very back of the car so I'm assuming the rear seats will need to come out?
Any tips on doing this or can I get away with just removing the seat base and bending the panel back?
Also where are the retaining clips/screws for this panel?
