PistonHeads at Le Mans 2015

We've pulled out all the stops and to make LM 2015 a year to remember

PistonHeads has long held the 24 Heures du Mans close to its heart. For many years we've actively encouraged and facilitated an en masse pilgrimage to the Circuit de la Sarthe. For 2015 we've been working hard to bring something a little bit different to the party, and despite some hiccups and time-sapping delays (apologies!), we think it will be worth the wait.

So, without further ado, here is the plan.

First up, we're proud to be able to bring you an official PistonHeads pub at Le Mans! The Pie & Piston will be open for the duration of the weekend, and is situated in a prime location right in the heart of the main village just above the pits. It will be the best place to relax, keep up to date with the race and hang out with lots of other members, not to mention the PH team. Alternatively you can just turn up and have a few too many beers. The choice is yours!

But that's not all. What can your typical PHer get up to on Friday morning before the festivities are in full swing, you might ask?

Previously the PH Friday Service has been popular, but equally it had become increasingly hard to organise due to a lack of space and problems with traffic management. But fear not, we have a solution and have teamed up with another cornerstone of the Le Mans 24-Hour, the Classic British Welcome (CBW).

Now in its 15th year, CBW has now become one of the main highlights for Le Mans attendees. The event is now a meeting point for some 9,000 visitors and around 1,000 classics and sports cars from across Europe will be there. Each year the event chooses a new theme, and for 2015 the theme will be MG.

We've been given our very own space within CBW to host a Friday Service, with space for 150 PHers; not only will they enjoy the company of the other CBW guests but they will also receive plenty of goodies courtesy of PistonHeads.

We'll be announcing further Pie & Piston details soon, but until then a hot tip will be to make sure that you are wearing a PH T-shirt at all times to make to most of the special offers. Purchase your Le Mans PH 2015 T-shirt here.

If you'd like to join us at CBW for our Friday Service, then please add your name to the calendar here. Please ensure that you keep an eye on the contact email address in your profile as we'll be emailing you a pass to get in (without which you will be turned away!).

We're going to be strict on entry as we expect demand to be high - therefore please only add your name if you're 100 per cent committed to joining us.

Lastly, if you're reading this and thinking "Wow, that sounds great, but I've left it too late and haven't booked my trip to Le Mans yet", then fear not - we have some places left on our new and luxurious 'Premier Vert' campsite.

We hope to see plenty of you at Le Mans very soon!

Will the pie and piston cater for Beer snobs such as myself?

Bravo chaps! That settles the 'will we/won't we' arguement for the CBW! Getting from one to t'other and then back into town for late afternoon has always been a bit of a push.

Harraaah! That's great news & saves the rush back in the traffic! Do 2013/14 t-shirts count by the way in the attire competition? Oh, and will the smiley email be sent out well in advance, unlike the announcement for the Friday Service for those that are travelling down early? - sorry couldn't resist that biglaugh

Is it x2 or x3 GT3 this year then? - you should make a good spectacle going to the CBW....should we organise a convoy from the campsite, assuming you'll let some normal "metal" try and keep up?! yes

Not a good idea chaps. CBW is great but now you'll make it an oversubscribed bun fight to get in.

All interesting cars were allowed in before , no paperwork required. If your car was not really the thing you were directed to park outside.

Now, unless you have a different access point you will add to the congestion in and out and prevent some glamorous stuff from getting in. Not good. The requirement to sign up on here will be the only criteria and that detracts from the show,. You may love your car but is it really the sort of thing you would attend a show to see???

Sadly not, the beer has to be purchased through certain suppliers... And there selection doesn't cater for beer snobs (which I'd firmly categorise myself as too)

Hope you can see past that and join us for a pint of fizzy lager beer.

Cheers!

With regards to T shirts, any branded PH t-shirt will do the trick (although you really should treat yourself to a new one!)

And the smiley will be sent out in plenty of time, and we'll also bring some spares with us incase anyone is a bit forgetful!

Excellent news.

Quick question...the 150 spaces..is that for cars?

I'm not taking my car this year, but coming down with my father, who isn't on PH. So if I put my name down, can that be used for the car we're going in?

It is 150 car spaces, although if the car you're coming in isn't especially "PH worthy" then you may want to consider parking with the general public and just coming to find is on foot as our 150 car allocation will form a (small) part of the show! You can of course still come and say hi and get involved as the show is free to enter.

Hope this makes sense!

My son and I are long term PHers. If we turn up at The Village PH facility and request the amber liquid, not wearing the necessary PH T shirt, will we be welcomed?

Is there a timetable or preferred time it's best to come for? Just wondering how best to fit it around pit walk, supermarket, etc etc :-)

Would be nice to have a convoy from the campsite, why not!
Probably 2x GT3RS and 1x GT2, but the latter isn't confirmed yet.

Yep, of course! But surely you'll want to be displaying your allegance to PH by proudly wearing a T shirt... Right?!?

We'll be confirming all the timings for everything way before the event, but in simple terms the Friday Service @ CBW is more or less all day on Friday (although we'll mainly be there in the morning) and the pub will be open for the duration of the weekend (although trading hours are limited by Le Mans)
