Having got a mk3 clio 1.4 (98bhp), id be looking to upgrade to a nice warmer hatchback.

Im after something newer, 06 plate atm, will get around 2k for the car and have another 4k to add to it.
- Must be 3dr
- Sensible Insurance group ( living in liverpool bumps up insurance)
- Decent MPG
- Similar size to the Clio (Not any bigger)

Been looking at Suzuki swift sport (130bhp), Twingo 133, all the way up to the 197. But practically, i cant justify the 197

I have also had the idea to put the money towards a much newer car, having seen a few guys on here going for the Fiesta ST, with 6 grand deposit on a 14 plate fiesta ST being in the back of my mind.

However am i missing any cars that would be worth considering? DS3? Abarth 500? even the 1.0 Ecoboost fiesta zetec S?

Ste

I suspect it's out of your budget, but we've got a VW Polo BlueGT, it's a cracking little car. However they're holding their value well.

That engine seems to punch well above its weight - the A1 with the same motor is pretty quick too but holding onto their money

I'd second the Swift Sport, I look at them when I brought my car but couldn't afford it at the time. Not the best badge, if that bothers you! You could get a good one within your budget, I was a new driving in Portsmouth and insurance was better than my ST170.

Swift sport are a proper bargain, I'd be going for that, despite my love of French cars.

They seem to outperform everything, hence trying to see the 133 Twingo comparison.

Yep, 1.9 205 GTi levels of go - not bad on juice either

Fabia VRS? I had one and it was pretty nice to drive, and 4 nice doors.

Is this the same drivetrain as the A1 and old Polo Gti - DSG box only?

Some of them seem to like a drink of oil but they go fairly well - 60 in high 6s, low 7s
