I have a 42 inch LG LCD TV and after 4 years it has stopped recognising any HDMI signals. I have a 5 year warranty from Richer Sounds and they have passed me on to a local repair company who are going to order a new circuit board for it.
My wife has reminded me that recently the there has been a faint vertical line down the screen about a third of the way along the screen. It is more obvious depending on the background colour.
Is the line likely to be fixed by the replacement circuit board or is it more likely to be an unrelated screen fault? If so is it going to get worse?

Hoover.

let them replace the circuit board, and then on test afterwards with repair man if lines are apparent point them out saying they need to be rectified......

I did think about that but thought that if they are unrelated faults then it would not be worth putting in the circuit board and if I spoke to them about it now it may be more cost effective for them to write off the TV.

Update for those interested (not many, I guess!).
I spoke to the repair company and they thought that a new screen would be needed in addition to the circuit board and the cost may make the repair uneconomic.
Repair man came to the house earlier in the week but only had a circuit board with him. This fixed the HDMI problem but not the screen. Shortly after I received a call from the repair company saying a new screen was on order. This has now been fitted and the TV is working fine.
The repair man fitting the screen did look at the 2 invoices (going to Richer Sounds) and suggest that a new TV would have been more cost effective.
