VOGUE 4.4 Real mpg to expect from 5k a year London Town driving
Discussion
Hi
Sure it's been done a lot of times before. But considering 4.4 2004 vogue to buy very soon. Budget is 8-9k. Everybody suggests to buy the 4.4 over td6.
What is real fuel situation on this for me. My wife is expecting and it will be used to the local London drive to shopping. Family runs and weekend local social drives only.
Very very little mororway runs
What fuel can I really expect. As I say only do about 4-5k miles a year anywa as I have another work car.
Thoughts appreciated on real mpg to expect for town driving. And also how many miles to the tank. So I can compare to my current SL320 1996
Thanks

I've had my 4.4 Vogue albeit with the Jag engine (which I'm told is superior but I'm not claiming points on that!) for about 4 years. Long-term average as displayed on the dash is about 19.5mpg. If I do a long motorway run, on cruise at 70-ish, it'll show about 24. If I spend a lot of time in town, maybe 18, and when I've towed anything long-distance, such as my V8 Defender on a trailer, about 15-16. Hope that helps.
Oh, and it's been utterly reliable, over something like 45k miles!

Yep... That would be a better way of looking at it and putting it into context, we're looking at cars over 11yrs old. A lot will depend on how it has been looked after as a lot can happen in that time.
They're a premium car and as such, servicing comes at a premium too. Just because it's 10+ yrs old, doesn't mean the parts and servicing is going to be any more affordable!!

Autotrader says the vogue 4.4 MPG is 12.7 mpg for town driving.
Does that sounds realistic or reasonable to any 4.4 Vogue owners? what is realistic mpg for town drives only with medium weighted foot.
thanks
having had an L322 4.4 V8 that figure is about right - best I managed was about 16mpgDoes that sounds realistic or reasonable to any 4.4 Vogue owners? what is realistic mpg for town drives only with medium weighted foot.

Seriously... If you're in any way concerned about running costs, the Range Rover isn't for you!!!
At that age of car, the MPG is the least of your worries!!!

truer words have never been saidAt that age of car, the MPG is the least of your worries!!!

I had one and it was a 'money pit' - great car but even at ten years old its still a £70K car and costs lot to maintain - main dealer service costs are the same as my L405 - which by the way is not perfect - better but still some way to go
as many say - wish Range Rovers were made by Toyota/Honda - that would be a perfect car

think buying a rr which already has a good lpg system is still best option . Any problems with lpg system will be least of your worries on a 12 yr old rr !
if a i get a RR Vogue with LPG system, do i need to service that regularly? how does that work, in terms of costings and useage etcthanks

most owners don't bother getting them serviced AFAIU - I do mine myself.thanks
its just a couple of filters to change and a general health check
