I believe the outriggers were done at tvrs in Wellington who has also said he gave the car a thorough check over and he will also will be moting it before I commit to buying. So was thinking it can't be half bad.

TVRSSW are amongst the best in the TVR world, and if they say it is sound and well cared for then it's sound and well cared for.
Cosmetic issues are finite and you can see them now - mechanical issues cans seem infinite and not always obvious, so as it seems to be a good'un mechanically it would seem to be one to go for.

didn't get the car in the end. the owner would accept what my wife offered. she wasn't sure the car although had lots of work done was cared for but had the work more out of necessity from hard use. still ill keep looking. I can see her reasoning.

I looked at over 14 cars before finding one, Even seen one with 11 months mot at a TVR specialist that I could poke a hole in the chassis with a key.
Another one with just 20k on the clock witch if I hadn't have travelled so far would have been laughable.
So don't take it having a new mot as it all being good.

Out of interest what did your wife think of driving it?

The wife felt it had been rather well used. As it happens we've bought one. We went to a specialist open day and found one for sale that had been owned by a mature gent for the last 15 years and garaged all its life so felt it was a good car and felt like the right one.

Was it at the tvrsw open day today?
If so which car was it? I was there, there were some nice cars there.

It was the blue chimaera that was parked in the oposite side of the garage it's on the tvrs site for sale. Fell in love.

Cool, I did see someone having a good look around it whilst we were talking to the car club guys, maybe it was you?!

When do you pick it up? What engine is it? Welcome to the awesome world of TVR ownership!

I hope to pick it up next weekend and it will be a long week I can tell you. It's the 4ltr with an uprated cam I believe but has a brake upgrade and has been lovingly looked after from what I can see. I hope to go to local meets and shows ASAP.

Congratulations thumbup

Quick work there Michael but if it feels right why not....

If I've seen the right one then I have to say I prefer the front style rather than the conversion one you were looking at.( Defiantly a Marmite topic ) Looks much better on the Cerbera IMO

Nervous and excited days ahead.....Enjoy

Thanks. And thanks for all you help guys. It's been very helpful and I'm sure I'll be on here again seeking advice. Touch wood all will go smoothly getting it home but it will give it a good run.

Thanks again

Just remember that when you pick it up you need to stow the roof panel in the boot (carefully - empty boot first, then underside away from you, front edge at the top, left side in first, mind the paintwork of the rear wing with the right hand end, right side in last and centre it), and leave it there for good. Proper Chimaera drivers never use the roof, especially at TVR events.
