Started up the S3 today to give it a little run,the first one after being away in the US for a month,I was aware I'd already charged the battery.
All went well for a mile or so and then, just after a corner, there were metallic sounds, rattles and bumps of something hitting the floorpan. My first reaction was that the exhaust had come adrift but the sound hadn't changed so I limped slowly home.
Lifted the bonnet and,oh dear,I see the little battery charger, or what was left of it...the cable had touched the exhaust manifold and been burnt in a few places and the end with the 13 amp plug on had been flayling around making most of the noise and all the pins were bent.
Think I'm getting too old for this messing about with old cars game !!!!

When I saw the post title I was very much afraid it was serious!
We 'seniors' must expect the odd mistake. It took me some time to get a new locking wheel not socket after I drove off with the old one on! Fortunately no punctures in the meantime. To hell with a battery charger...as long as the S (and owner!) are OK.
At least you admitted to it so making the occasion mistake does matter to you, it is when you get blase^ that it gets dangerous.
I am a member of the over 60's TVR owners club, but not yet (quite!) the over 70's. You?

When you are our age you can admit to mistakes and no one worries!

To counter the fact that i'm an old codger i'm watching Taylor Swift on Radio 1's big weekend as I type this . That probably doesn't help any street cred I might have once had though. weeping
