I am looking to lay some left over good quality engineered oak boards in my boiler room that also houses the washer and dryer.
It's a Victorian extension and I suspect it's not exactly damp free. Anyway the hot water tank is massive and floor standing. So I can't lay a damp proof membrane to tank it out. I have bought some 5mm thick fibre boards to go under the floor.

Anyway I am not too bothered if it all goes a bit Pete tong. But is this a bad way to do it or shall I instead just stick something down that won't mind the conditions eg tiles...? The floor has quarry tiles but they are horrible and as we have done some messing with the room they need covering.
Any thoughts ? Thanks.
