I don't think it's a Porsche thing, my 'Poverty Pork' style 986 hasn't attracted any bad reactions or behaviour (with the exception of one muppet in a manky 20 year old Hyundai who for some reason saw fit to wind the window down and yell C**T at the top of his voice as he went past whilst I waited in to turn right from a main road- some people are just strange..)

It's more likely a massive, unnecessary, blingy "look at me" SUV thing.

So you have seen it for real. Suv as baby was on the way and wanted safety just as I was looking for two seater sports car!

Have had a Cayenne for years now, and I think it is perfectly anonymous, jut another SUV,a bit dusty, well used. Gets no compliments, no criticisms, and does its job well.

Thanks for the debate all. Got to go now. Family hopefully expanding in the next few hours. It has kept me entertained whilst waiting.

I hope no one took any offence as it wasn't meant. I could have worded my post slightly better but hey I'm new to this.

More important things than cars.

Take care

Region: Cheshire.

Try moving down south, far more civilised part of the world.
Plus, everyone here has at least one Porsche for daily commuting / shopping / airport / tip runs, so you won't stick out like a sore thumb.
Ha ha we aren't all flat caps and working in the mines.
Indeed. It's all aspirational, orange debt monkeys rushing to an old age of piss riddled begging. wink

And the original Turbo was one of the most entertaining cars of all time. A true great.

We have a Cayenne and was struck by how many people wouldn't let us out at junctions, kids swearing at us etc.

I quite like it shows we are different and better than the knobeads of this world!

Anyone else experienced this?
Bought the wrong Porsche mate wink Other than a single cyclist giving me the wker sign, in 5 years I've had nothing but positive responses about the car. I also get let out of junctions. :P

To be clear:

I wasn't saying if you don't drive a Porsche you are a knob

Some cars cleary bring out jealousy in people more than others a Porsche more than an Aston for example

No doubt I have ruffled a few feathers!
But if you drive a Porsche you are at least superior to an Aston driver?
fk no. No one, and I mean NO ONE can hate an Aston. They have to be the most universally loved expensive car that everyone will let out of junctions because they're just so damned cool. To this day I daren't drive a V8V for fear of me having to sell my liver to be able to buy one.

TVR better!?confused
The amount of praise/respect for these cars is really quite amazing. I could be sat behind/infront 50-100k value of car and the pedestrians can be seen/heard and pointing and saying TVR...

It still amazes me that somehow the young kids seem to know the brand TVR,many times 10-14 yr olds lads shouting with joy as you pass,or saying hey Mum "TVR". And not just the lads, driving through Stratford Upon Avon waiting at traffic lights two 12-14yr old girls even pointed and the one girl turns to the other and says " That's a TVR I luv em"

If you have not been out in a TVR then if you ever get the chance I would recommend having a passenger ride through a built up pedestrian area and see the response.

Honestly..... it still amazes me what positive reaction they get out in the open, pub talk is not so good laugh

Back on topic only owned one Porsche a 944 back in year 94 and don't recall any nasty stuff being said.

Strange that I would rather own a 944 in the year 2015 than back when I had it in 1994... Grown on me more over the years and strangely I thought I never had a photo of it,but searching through some old photos I've found some. Brought back some nice memories and still can't think of any negative vibes or disapproval when I had it.

The original Cayenne Turbo. There was nothing like it when it came out. It stamped the Porsche ethos onto the SUV market. To drive it was the most surreal of experiences.

I doubt a Porsche Cayenne brings out the jealous side of anyone bar the visually challenged.

Well.. it has 156,000Km on it,with over 50,000km towing a trailer with a car on it, has been off roaded, driven in Canadian winters, run flat out, used as a dog transport and generally abused, so it would qualify in my eyes as a working vehicle….lots of dents on itsmile
