Sundym - OK to polish to remove scratches?

Have a couple of scratches on the drivers door and rear screen. Wasn't sure if the Sundym tinting is a surface treatment or through the glass?

Didn't want to have a non-tinted patch where I try and polish the scratches out!

I have in the past successfully removed very light scratches on the rear screen of a 78 3000M without removing any tinting so I am pretty sure its not on the outside. Was a pretty scary job to do as the heat generated is massive, the kit I got was from Machinemart you needed a high speed electric drill as a battery powered one just doesn't spin fast enough but it did do the job.
