Snetterton Track day report
Discussion
Left yesterday afternoon at 4pm with supplies.
Got to the hilton around the same time as yazza and hebegb. Decided that the queue of 1 person to check in was too long so hit the drink. It went pretty much downhill from there.
We ate some food, eventually when Gareth arrived.
Hebegb wore a coat
He then scared yazza
I then went to bed and woke up and went to the track.
Mat did a sterling job again today when I kept ended up with a box of neutrals as I could get the positioning of my foot right. Changed all the rearsets around for me.
Ryan's, Leslies, grahams, gareths and Tonys Bike.
I nearly binned it on the first sighting lap but I didn't want to take the crown off Gareth.
Had 20 minutes of instruction and improved no end. Lunch seems to break the momentum for me and I did one after lunch and packed in. 5 Sessions is plenty for me. I even managed to pass some people
Hebegb said don't bring the hat so I did.
GWM avoided salad
Fleegle looked at me funny
Cracking day out with the lads. Nobody fell off and a good day was had by all.

Can't ask for more than that. Scott
What's going on with Mat's rearsets / your feet that makes a GSXR gearbox rubbish?
When's the next one? I did a temp job at United Biscuits when they were trying to copy Jaffa cakes and I'm a flippin' expert at eating them!
Looks like you had a good day. Your hat is gayer than his jacket. I've spent the last two days stripping and rebuilding mine because of a fking irritating misfire, so fk you all. Turned out to be a fault on the intake pressure sensor after all that ste. I've drunk copious amounts of alcohol as well, so not all bad. Don't trust Ryan. Look at his Manc face.

The positioning of my foot couldn't get under the lever properly. Its my foot, not the bike. Once it was adjusted it was perfect. Loving the quickshifter action on the back straight. What's going on with Mat's rearsets / your feet that makes a GSXR gearbox rubbish?

A long weekend for Mitz and me. It started with an early start on Friday morning so I could go pick my young ladies new bike up
Hit the road oop North straight after work and arrived up in Stockton for a couple of days with the famiy, leaving for Snetterton early Sunday afternoon
Made good time and turned the corner to the hotel to see the others had started supping without us - so some catching up was required!!
Sunday evening didn't fail to entertain with hebegb managing to frighten all the other guests with his choice of evening wear
Most of the others managed to get the worse for wear, but I was a responsible grown up with a day on track in front of me, so decided a nice cup of Ovaltine would be more suitable
The day arrived and have to say it was a cracker.
Good weather, good company and a good laugh. You couldn't ask for more

Brill Day and Evening last night.
Yet again Bike Banter never fails , great bunch of guys to share top trackday.
Beers flowed and someone got a new plastic jacket
Fist outing on Ninja Zx6 after fleegle picked her up on Friday
Its amazing loads of poke , really balanced and a joy to ride
Can get the balls of my feet on the floor, really happy
One minor point is the leavers, very hard to change gear by the end of each sessions it hurts
so change of leavers and see how it goes , apart from that im smitten.
Sooooooooooooooooooo in love with her
Good luck GWM at Cadwell tomorrow
Yazza lovely to meet you babe, hope you get the bearings sorted
Thanks Scott for the banter and givin me the bird on track lol

Cheers John - ps I really think you'd like Snett. Reminded me of elements of Croft in quite a few places- fast with a decent flow and some challenging nadgery slower bits - decent ... but again, what's not to like when it's dry - good company and you're battering your bike ! Enjoy Oulton soon .
Had a great day as well. You know the tone has been set when a guy you've just said hello to gives you a long lingering hug while wearing a PVC gimp jacket...
I really liked Snetterton, the tight in field parts then the faster flowing corners. My rookie fk up for the day was changing my rearsets after my last track day, then not really testing it out. Cue me going out in the first session and the gear lever being miles away from my foot. Still got in, changed it and back out to do a couple laps in the first session. After that, felt good as I picked up my pace over the day. The ability in this Novice was definitely closer, so less getting buzzed by fast guys and having to avoid stiff slow folk. Though that kid on the KTM Cup bike was a right cheeky wee st! Haha
Highlights were letting sc0tt out in front of me, before getting past him (sucker). And the tussle I had with a guy on one of the Smallboys track bikes. I was beating him on the brakes at first but he got away from me and being the last session let him go rather than almost definitely bin it!
Gutted for Yazza, whole day spent fixing his bike and he never got out.
Top banter all round. Will share vids and pro pics when I get them.

I've done the old track and the new 300 Grahame. I preferred the old track layout TBO>
Haha - I should have guessed you'd done it - never mind , I had done the old one once but seemed to really like this one by end of day .... last ride on track before Tony and I take to the race paddock at Oulton - Sat. 13th - 3 hr Endurance with Hottrax ...excited !Frustrating day for me - went out for the odd 1-2 lap stint but the bike was barely rideable. I'm rather embarrassed and pissed off that I hadn't discovered that the wheel bearings were fked. Unfortunately this wasn't picked up when I fired the bike off for a suspension refurb and full check over, but plenty of suspension issues were sorted, so I never thought to check. Genuinely believed the bike was sorted.
Came in after first session and bike was weaving like fk, let fleegle have a go round the paddock who came back looking rather confused, so at least it wasn't just me!
Had the front supercorsa swapped to my wet front, eradicated a lot of the weaving but still not perfect. Checked the rear next time in and the bearings in that were fked too.
So off I went to get the other swapped, the bearings in that felt OK ish, better than the dymags so worth a go at least. Well how wrong was I, the one on the caliper side collapsed... So when I did go out all I got was a load of banging from the rear and the most horrendous handling ever experienced.
The main thing is I know what's wrong now as it was that bad I was genuinely fearing a bent frame. Will be checking swingarm, headstock and doing all wheel bearings now. I don't mind so much when I know what the problem is, but before then I was seriously wondering how many more £££ I can fire into something and get the square root of fk all enjoyment back, was on the verge of having a LoonR1 moment. The suspension did feel better but was hard to tell really given how bad the bearings were. Just have to sort it and move on...
On a positive note, had a great time socially..not as much on Monday as I was constantly worked away trying stuff, head up arse but everyone was lovely, great to meet Scott, mitzy, Gareth and also srob came to see us for a bit which was a good effort, think he was a bit worse for wear. Great few beers and meal the night before. Also bumped into mototraxport on the Sunday which was cool, nice bloke.
All in all a good weekend with ups and downs, I'm not ready to retreat to Greece yet.

Scott, with jaffas AND oreos you have pretty much nailed trackdays. If you get a redbull addiction, you could be ready to move onto Racing.
I'm glad everyone had a good day, i'll try to make it to the next one. Sorry you had bike troubles Yazza, how unlucky for both sets of wheels to have bearing troubles at the same time. Are you sure you're not missing a spacer or some thing that is causing the bearings to fail???

The dymag spacers are pressed into the bearings and don't get removed there's no way of getting them wrong. It's only my second day on the bike so they've always been fked. Everything fits right, standard kawasaki ballache caliper balancing act on the rear a nightmare to fit but does line up right etc. Just my fault for not checking. The bike had been sat for a while before I bought it and it's not done them any good. Might have to ride it up the road next time before going.
