My heater temperature control is connected to nothing. I know it should connect to a valve on the tube going into the matrix but there's no valve there or anywhere else the hose is straight in and straight out. Anyone know where I might get one? I'm assuming it's either unobtainium or available in b&q smile

Have no valve either and prefer it that way, as it is possible to 'increase' the coolant system.
This is a 350i wedge with a working heater....
Most of the time it is on fully hot/open and fan used if I like it a bit warmer.

Hi mate...On Delilah there was no heater control valve and i did contemplate fitting one and a control cable at one time..All that happens is that a flap inside the "Specially designed" air control unit....nerd..Either closes off the part that is linked to the top vent and blows the air from the heater unit through the matrix or closes to pull in air from the top vent..Someone probably removed the cable as it was felt to not be doing anything but 99.9% of the time the box that houses the fan needs serious overhauling...The rubber seals have normally perished so the flap is pulling in hot air all the time no matter what...You will find once the unit has been overhauled it will work like new...biggrin

I bought a spare from, from...... Give me a minute.

Edit. Found it.

Edit 2
No idea how good it is, I was renewing the pipes to the heater and bought it just in case but the old one seemed OK.

Hmmm I'm not entirely sure how far down this rabbit hole I want to go right now, I'm really keen to get her back on the road for some summer fun.
I've been reading old posts about the heater system and it looks never going to be much cop without some major modification anyway but while I have the interior out I may as well pop a valve in. I'm trying to get as many "while you're at it" jobs done before it all goes back together.

When I bought it, don't think the brass option was available, in there if you dig further. It seems to be the same robust (?) quality as the one fitted to my car, which is why I carry a joiner for that pipe diameter....... wink
