I have had my Cooper S for about 8 months now, and in that time i have hardly touched the DSC 'off' button. Normal road driving doesn't really require it and as, on a number of occasions, i have experienced wheel spin pulling out of junctions i had surmised that the system was a fairly relaxed one.

Roll on today and i am driving home in the evening sun i thought i would go 'systems off'

It makes such a big difference! The car feels like it has an extra 20-30hp coming out of 2nd and 3rd gear turns with the DSC off. The systems must be seriously reducing the power that is sent to the wheels when there is any lock on!

It will be permanently off when going for a spirited drive now!

Is that "Totally Off" with the warning Triangle? Or with DTC enabled?

I didn't know there was an intermediate setting tbh.

I pressed and held for about a second the DSC button and a warning comes up where the digital speedo normally is, as well as a amber light within the speedometer.

My (R60 ALL4) Cooper S has DSC/DTC/Totally Off settings, I thought all recent Minis were the same?

I must admit I've never really been brave enough to drive spiritedly with out DSC on public roads!

According to the manual it is the same (DTC being a setting for driving in snow or rocking out of mud)

DSC + DTC

DSC off but DTC engaged

DSC + DTC off

However, i cannot seem to engage DTC (and disengage DSC) using the method the manual suggests. No length or ways of pressing the DSC button will give me anything other than DSC on or DSC off.

This is the first car i have owned with DSC of any form, the way i see it is that it was never a problem before so why would it be now. in something light, powerful and RWD maybe...
