Going to a friends wedding in Atlanta in October, and need to hire a car for some of the time. Would quite like to take the opportunity to hire something fun, like a Corvette for example.

Have hired a Mustang convertible in Florida in the past, but it was a pretty crap car to be honest so want something a bit nicer.

Anyone got any experiences to share of doing the same, or even places to rent from?

Much appreciated.

Alamo do corvettes.
Didn't hire one but they had a couple in stock at Orlando earlier this year.

I know its not Orlando, but I'm there at the mo' and via a recommendation off here to use sixt as they have some german brands instead I have used them.
Instead of the Audi A3 I was supposed to get, I was given a Merc CLA250 instead which is nice.

Try them see if they have something similar where you going if you don't fancy the local cars smile

We've hired loads of 'nice' stuff in the US over the years, and the Corvette is indeed the best of the bunch, and the C7 is simply awesome, but I think there are still some rental C6s about and they're pretty fine too. I've always hired off Hertz, but the number of decent cars for hire is pretty limited so you need to book early to get a Corvette. We've often had to try a number of different rental locations (with the same company) to get availability. Challengers and Camaros are more plentiful but can still be tricky at short notice. Mustangs are fine so long as you make sure it's the V8 you're getting...but most of the 'unlimited miles' cheaper rentals with Hertz at least are just V6s. Same with Camaros; if it doesn't say SS or V8, or looks real cheap you could end up with a V6.

Thanks guys, having a look at Hertz, but seems like there is no availability on any of the decent cars the times I'm looking for which is a pain. Will start to have a play around and see if I can find something else.

Be very careful with Hertz, booking "the exact car" is not guaranteed.
Case in point, Chicago last year booked a Mustang 5.0 from the Adrenalin collection.
On arrival they had none, best car they had was a Ford Explorer frown
Turned out Chicago lost their Adrenalin collection 3 months previous, but they had continued selling them.

As you are coming into Atlanta, have a look at Enterprise premium or whatever they call it is.

Their Buckhead location has a number of very nice rental vehicles available, Boxsters, Audi R8 etc.

Hertz have a big plus.

Become a gold customer and you get to go straight to the car. I turn my phone on and their is an email waiting telling me what stall to go to. No arsing around. I don't do queues that I can avoid.

The cars are sometimes ordinary but they do the job in an American way.....

Went with Budget last time. Booked a Crown Vic. got a Crown Vic. Did some skids in a snowy car park. Happy.
