Why?
Is it to show off your body and gain more 'likes'?
I don't understand why people do this, they must have really low self esteem and it's sad to see.
I don't have a bad body but I don't plaster it all on the net, and if I work out I don't take a selfie.

Facebook Status: 6 hours at the gym done! Proper SMASHED it!

Er ok? Well done you, here have a like.

Instagram photo of me half naked doing some bendy yoga pose.

Really ok. Yoga is surely for your own benefit, but here have a like anyway.

Am I the only one annoyed by this? biggrin

I'm sure it's some kind of culture of reciprocated liking e.g. if you posted a gym selfie you wouldn't receive any 'likes' because you've not 'liked' someone else's so aren't indebted. Never ending really.

Just seems to be "normal" for people these days to take pictures of everything they do and everywhere they visit - we had guests the other week, and within minutes of arrival they were posting up an update of their visit.. Odd world we live in now.

I just cringe whenever I see photos. Fair enough if it's to promote a business etc..

It's a shame. You have to post photos and update statuses to show people that you are sociable.

I've put a couple on over the last 2 years after losing 6 stone, a couple showing me in the gym (somewhere that 2 years ago you wouldn't ever see me).

I only have friends on my FB and don't post this kind of stuff in the public domain so I don't see the problem?

Good luck to anybody that would rather show a picture of themseves in the gym, on a bike or doing a run as opposed to a picture of them sat on the sofa moaning about people who post pictures of the above.

My wife always has to "check in" to places on FB, I rip the piss out of her and say that in actual fact no one really cares what you are doing or where you are; I asked her once what does she think when someone checks in to so and so place, she said it didn't really register and it is usually no where that interesting anyway, she couldn't answer when I asked, "then why should your friends care where you are at this precise moment in time?"

I don't have FB and I hate having my photo taken.

This wasn't meant to offend anyone. Clearly you can do what you want and well done to you. I'm just stating facts that people can't just do something without putting it on Facebook/Instagram. I'm discovering more that it's mostly single people that do.

Exactly!
My other half puts up jokes that he's seen and I cringe and laugh when he looks to see how many likes he gets wink

I had a little chuckle to my myself when I saw someone check in at their husbands funeral. That was very strange (but knowing the family, not surprising at all).
