My car trailer was stolen last week. So that's the end of my track days frown for quite a while.

House insurance don't cover it and my kit insurance through Abacus class it as a vehicle accessory rather than a personal possession so won't cover it either.

Managed to get some footage from a neighbours CCTV system.
To show perspective here is a birds eye view.
Red = my house
Yellow = trailer location
Blue = the camera arcs.

This is the footage, I used a free converter to turn it from .264 file to AVI so here is the original footage if anyone can get anything better from it https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzVvpKGjB_lldFBoZW...

Can anyone make out the make and model of the car or anything else? I originally thought it would be travellers but after finding this with a lack of van and one person I now think it's a local job. Someone who knows I work away and that I have a trailer (no real reason to drive passed the back of my house)

Many thanks

Did you check the previous days footage for anyone casing the joint?! Might get a colour of the car at least.

It's probably been watched a while. If it's not a neighbour then it'll be a friend of one which they've mentioned I have a trailer to.
There's no reason to drive down that part of the road as there's just my streets parking. But people do walk down it as there is a cut through at the back. They are all nosey as I'm usually in the garage working on one of the cars.

It's a tiny village so of I can get the make and model then ill find it in the village. I already have suspicions and will be visiting my local track to look round the paddock on a weekend.

Does the bin wagon go down there? I'm sure my bike and trailer were robbed by someone tipped of on its location by the bin men , an old boiler was also picked up after the bin men had been round . I live in a small private rd with no visibility from the rd and not overlooked .

It does indeed, the guy left my bins out for me to, coincidence? Haha.
Really pissed off, I wish I could cut his face off slowly.

Left me in the situation of loosing the trackday last Sunday or spending £100 on hiring a trailer. So I did that and the handle of the jockey wheel came off while driving! Not my fault but the place said they had to charge me. Been a brilliant week.

Looks kinda like a 3 door civic to me, the 02 - 06 shape.

I'll have another nosey when I get home from work this afternoon and see if I can pick out the outline for you.

There is no need to convert this video file from .264 to .Avi because you can view it using VLC Media Player by changing the Demux module from 'Default' to 'H264 video demuxer'. Tools > Preferences > Show Settings > All > Demuxers > select 'H264 video demuxer' from the drop down list, then click SAVE. Just remember to change it back when you're finished viewing the video!

There is a tutorial on YouTube which demonstrates how to make the change: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qm-z2-oLsQ

Having said all of that I still can't make out the car, though someone else on here might be able to.

Good luck with catching the thieving bas*ards.

Message me some details of the trailer mate and I'll ask about. I know some people who may know where to ask/find.

When the guy stands next to it it is reasonably high. Do you think it could possibly be a mk1 white Renault Scenic? Suspect number one has one handily.

I played the original file on my VLC player and it's the same quality unfortunately!

The trailer was an older twin axle Brian James. Exelent condition though.
It has a MAM of 1800kg and a load of 1400kg. It has mud guards that are all one piece over the two wheels on each side and I had swapped the guards and spare wheel round so the wheel is now mounted on the right and the swing down mud guard on the left.
The right rear light had a crack in it at the top which has tape over it and the lights are the old kind without the marker lamp sticking out the top of each one like they do nowadays.

The cable to the plug had had a repair on it previously and looks like the previous owner used a choc block to join then tape to cover it all.

It has a strap winch too. Also on the sides at the end by the lights it has the plates which say brian james on them as alot of older trailers just have some bars there.

Actually looking forward to popping down to my local track on a weekend now.

Not much to go on there.
Only things I can make out are that the door mirrors seem lighter than the bodywork (chrome?) and from the reflections at the rear with the reversing lights, it looks like there might be a rear-door mounted spare wheel. Rav4?

Does your chap with the Scenic have a tow-bar?

Yeah it does. Also has 2 or 3 caravans and a few other things in his back garden and a bit of a reputation.

I don't know if it's high enough as I have an audi estate and looks bigger than that.

I can't work out if it's my eyes or the bloke has limp.

Scenic could be a good shout, but I think it looks a bit squarer, more like a Honda CRV or similar.

I've looked everywhere for photos but the only 2 I can find are these.
Even went through friends pictures that were at the same trackdays to see if it was in the background frown

It does of course have your post code marked on it somewhere doesn't it? If not and you find it put it on it!

Well, I think the best chance of me getting my trailer back is to look in places where they are most commonly used. I'm already watching ebay and gumtree about 8 times a day.

Hugh was at Blyton today and looked round the paddock for me and ill be popping there tomorrow before heading to watch top gear live in sheffield smile

But, if anyone's ever at a track and wouldn't mind taking a wander round the paddock then it would be much appreciated.

Points to note,
It's a brian james clubman twin axle 1800kg mam 1400kg load, there are various things different about mine.
1. The rear lights are the old style with no little marker arms sticking out the top (never seen another like it)
2. Strap winch
3. The folding wheel arch (once piece over both wheels each side) has been moved to the left side and the spare wheel moved to the right. They are normally the other way round.
4. The right rear light was cracked at the top and had a bit of tape covering it.
5. The cable has a repair on it not far from the trailer too car plug.
6. The right hand side runner (where the cars wheels sit) has a square of stickyness where I had my contact details masking taped too when I had the trailer at work.

If I remember anything else I'll let you know.

A sneaky photo of it would be great (with the towing cars reg in it if possible incase it's gone by the time I see the picture) either post the photo on here smile

Cheers.

I think you need to give it up - no one on here is likely to see it / remember / care. Not being harsh but its true. Just buy another one and forget about it.

No problem if you want to donate £1500. I wrote the post for a different forum with more of a family group feeling from the members that I've been part of for 8 years.
It took seconds to paste it here so if only one person looks once then it was worth it.
