Could anyone let me know what sort of cars one could expect to find in class 1F?

I'm about to start my first foray into hillclimbing and this is the class I'll be in.

Thanks gents.

It may help if you tell us which club/association that's with as they all differ slightly.

(Also the cc range might help too).

Edit to add: You should be able to find old or future entry lists online for the events and championships you plan on entering and that will show exactly who/what you'll be up against.

Ah, didn't realise they're all different!

This is for Harewood. Cat 1F is for road derived sports and saloons over 2000cc.

Thanks for the Harewood link. Found a few, Chimera, Ferrari 430, TV V8S Etc. Pretty happy with that actually, was worried they'd be mental cars I can't beat.

I'll be in a 1981 Porsche 944 tarmac rally car.

Are you doing the Harewood School Ben?. I'd suggest you would gain an awful lot from it, not just the driving side but discussions with the experienced people who run it.

Get in touch with Mike Geen, through IDMC he's very experienced at Harewood. He's pushing it on the Facebook at the moment.

Hi Ian,

Yes, I think I will take some instruction, can't hurt really.

Could you put me in touch with your IDMC bloke? My membership has lapsed - if it is one of the accepted clubs that allow hillclimb entry then I'll rejoin, if not I'll join another.

I'm not on the facebook so that's no good to me for comms.

Ian, just had a quick look at this: http://www.harewoodhill.com/competitors/school/

Don't think I'll sign up for this. £175 seems a bit silly for such a small amount of time on the hill, I'll just enter the July event.

It's not cheap, I realise that. My brother signed up for it when he first started at harewood and believed it helped him find the lines etc. I think his son did it too. As a learning experience it's probably more valuable than an event as you can concentrate on the learning side without getting yourself distracted by the competition aspect.
I have Mikes mobile number so will PM it across to you later.
Is 1f a modified class?.

I'll just wing it. If I feel like I could use some proper assistance I'll hire someone for some 1 on 1 stuff rather than a group.

Yes, 1F is a modified class. Running stripped out on 1B tyres.

Hi, I thought class 1F at Harewood is still a roadgoing production class? It caters for roadgoing cars competing in championships that allow the use of 1B tyres, because Harewood stipulate 1A tyres only for their 1C class structure.

I mention this because if 1F is roadgoing then a full interior is still required for class - sounds like your stripped car is Mod Prod - class 3C perhaps?

You are righ, its still a road going class but 1F is "Roadgoing Modified Saloon & Sports Cars that are not eligible for 1A, 1B or 1C" so its a handy little catch all class for road going stuff that has been modified beyond the regs for 1A-C and therefore ideal for rally cars.
