We had a similar thing with ours and there are a couple of rubber drains, about halfway down the drivers door pillar between or below the door hinges. It's about 1cm long with a squared off end. The end has a hole in it to allow water to drain out. It gets blocked and water can back up, eventually finding its way into the footwells. Might be worth squeezing them to check. Stand back though, as the water can be stagnant and a bit smelly.

I was about to say this. They are drains from the sunroof's "gutter". If you open the sunroof and poor a little bit of water into the gully around the edge, it ought to drain down through holes in the corners and out of the rubber things Matt's mentioned. There will be drains at the back of the sunroof too, but I can't remember where they come out (the ones in the door pillars are connected to the front corners of the sunroof channel).

Also check around the windscreen wipers. If you poor water in there it should drain away pretty quickly. If it sits in a puddle then the drain holes are probably blocked with leaves etc.. Poke them clear with a bit of garden wire or something until water drains away fast.

Finally I think there can be issues with the pollen filter not being properly fitted on those, and letting water in. that's a bit fiddlier to get to, but it's also up near the wipers underneath the plastic trim across the car.

Water from the wiper area can come into the car through the fresh air system (that's where the air is taken into the car from), so if that was flooding then it can come in through the footwell air ducts and wouldn't necessarily come in anywhere near the pedal.

Keep going with that, and pouring a little bit of water into the gutter around the sunroof, until it drains away quickly from the gutter and through those rubber things without you needing to squeeze them. When I did it, it took quite a bit of flushing through until they drained on their own. First time cleared out the old dirty water, but they were still a bit blocked and didn't drain properly on their own.

There's 3 common causes of wet interior on these,

The sunroof drains (as you've found out).
The cover over the pollen filter being put back wrong, or not at all.
The seal on the front door cards. (The actual metal panel inside, not the decorative bit you can see.)

All easily fixed.

^^^^^^^^^^^ I had the water coming through the door cards ^^^^^^^^^^^^
Butyl tape I used, that cured the problem some has used silicone sealant, but keep the windows open for a dry days (leave it in doors would be ideal) as the smell will stink the interior out!!

Butyl tape is fine, though I prefer this

http://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-roof-gutter-...

Loosen the panel bolts, and squirt a bead of that round the edge. Done.

Don't use silicone - it's a supremely effective glue once it's set, and it's a right pain to cut the sealant if you need to remove the door panel. The stuff above doesn't set, so the panel can be removed.
