Hi

I have an old A4 B6 TDi 130. Its got 103k on the clock but runs really well and never smokes.

I've been looking into various option of re-mapping or tuning boxes and just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction. Would one be a lot better than the other. They both have their pros and cons.

Im midlands based (Leicester) so would be looking for somewhere local if possible.

The main gain i would like to see would be in the mpg's.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Howdy,

On this engine, i've always found a remap to be much better - just keep it sensible. Some tuners will turn this engine right up but you will soon need a new clutch and flywheel too! Very resonable gains can be had without going mad power / torque wise...you will be more than impressed with the results! The car is fairly quick as standard and remap will totally transform it.

Tuning boxes. Steer clear. My mates ran one on his PD130 Golf for around 5 years now with no nasty side effects but his is a decent make (£500+) one...these throw away, £50 - £150 boxes are crap, and just confuse the car into running more power! if you insist in prefering a box i've heard good things about DTUK.

But for a me, a remap every time.

Try Shark performance. In Mansfield. Superb service. I use them, and would recommend to anyone.
