Hello,

What would others expect a reasonable cost of change would be to swap a Rolex Date (steel, 10 years old) for a new Rolex Datejust in steel on an oyster bracelet?

Rolex date in very good cosmetic condition.

Many thanks,

New Datejust - RRP £4,500
your watch - I imagine they will bid you £1,500 (they seem to be up for 2,000 - 2,500)

So I think £3,000 give or take

Two factors working against you:

- The Rolex date doesn't seem to hold its value / be that popular compared to the sports watches (Submariner, Sea Dweller, Daytona)
- New prices have inflated a lot last few years, so the new datejust is very expensive (almost same price as a sub no date)

As above, that was pretty much my experience when I did the same thing a few years ago, cost to change was about £2.5k back then.
Want to trade up to a Daytona in about 18 months but that'll be a whole new thread!

Hi,

Many thanks for the info.

Incendently how did you find the size change from Data to DataJust?

I actually like the understated look of it but it does appear quite a bit smaller than other watches these days (maybe that's just a fashion thing with watches the size of small planets appearing to be the norm).

Bit worried the Datejust might be a bit large for everyday wear, but also sometimes think the date is a bit small sometimes.

'Date' model is popular amongst ladies due to its slightly smaller 34mm size than DJ. My wife and daughter ending up going in to look at one and I somehow ended up buying two! Dont rule out trying to sell yourself first before part-ex

Ordered mine with the 'engine turned bezel' which makes it look a little chunkier but I'm not a big fan of the current trend either.
