I'm working in Barrow next week and plan on taking my bike to keep me out of the hotel bar. Can anyone link me to some good routes close by, preferably with a few lumps in them!

Cheers!

Be careful on the A590 as it's very fast and busy with high accident rates - the A5087 East shore road is less busy though the Furness peninsular is quite flat in general.

For the best road riding Head North to Lowick Green then north on the 5084 North along Coniston Water, through Torver and Coniston and upto Hawkeshead then either SSW through Grizedale and Force or SSE through Greythwaite along the SW shore of Windermere through Newby Bridge. This route incorporates part of the Classic 'Porthole Grand Prix Time Trial circuit - 25mile hilly TT around Windermere contested by many GB greats.

Ulverston and Hawkeshead are both very nice to visit.

Have a great time!
