Am obviously looking for an E70 X5.

I spotted these seats in an advert and my thought was that they must be the £1405 option for Comfort seats.

Trouble is, when I keyword search for "Comfort", they all say that and they definitely don't feature these seats.

They look very similar to those I used to have in my old 7 series Sport

Exactly that, comfort seats.

From memory, 7 way adjustable.

I have comfort seats in mine but don't have headrests like that. I don't think they're active headrests. They are probably from a 2007/ 2008 model.

I have the 2008 options list and it only gives the option for normal, comfort or Sport. Some that I've seen on the second hand market have electric headrests (that look different to these). VERY few cars seem to have these amazingly comfortable looking seats.

Camp Freddie do your seats have electrically adjustable headrests? Or are the upper portion of the backrest independently adjustable from the lower back half? Intrigued!!

Yes I have electrically adjusted headrests. They can also be shaped around your head to provide side support.
The upper section of the backrest moves independently to the bottom section. Side bolsters are inflatable as is lumbar support. Leg support extends electronically too. They have memory function and are heated. I find them incredibly comfortable.

As above, Comfort Seats and they're bloody marvellous. Had them on my 550i and they're definitely one of the most underrated options when people spec new cars.

Unfortunately therefore so few of the around.

Although I loved them, I still think the E70 sports seats are still very good, although in a different league. But because of that, I wouldn't seek out an E70 just with comfort seats for comfort seat sake. It would be on the full package, condition and service history.

That's a really kind request. Have actually misplaced which vehicle this was and to be honest I need a vehicle with blue or black carpets as the old girl is going out to thar countrysooide!

At the minute I'm actually just trying to get to the bottom of all of the myriad options and which ones mean anything to me. I found the 2007 brochure with all of the accesories which has been very useful.

Obviously and very good advice to anyone. There are SO many of these cars out there though and I am in no rush so want to be a little picky if I can. Funny how cars that have been specced with these seats often come loaded to the gunwales with options like HUD, Adaptive Drive, heated rear seats, electric blinds etc that you don't normally see.

Speaking of which, Adaptive drive, anyone know whether this magic button is any good? Again, many dealers don't know what they have and fail to advertise the Adaptive Drive or indeed the Comfort seats. Annoying how many say that the car has Comfort seats when it doesn't seem to have these uber-fancy ones.

So far I have gauged that a lot of people seem to have bought SE cars to get the rugged side-step look and then specced them up to M-Sports with the appropriate wheels, steering wheel, dynamic suspension and sports seats. Odd that the M-Sport never came with the option of sill plates but then I guess they are an aerodynamic flaw :-). I am not yet decided on whether I prefer the colour coded M-sports or the black unpainted trim SE's.

Always nice to find a really high spec 1 owner car with full main dealer service history. I did this with my C63 and ended up with an absolute peach. Will be sad to see her moved on :-(

Those are not E70 Comfort Seats....at least they are not the same as mine. The Headrest on the E70 seats are more "one piece" than that.

Not a great photo but the headrests for the E70 Comfort Seats look like this from the side.

Those screens are not OEM obviously...I had them fitted after I bought the car.

The comfort seats are bloody brilliant and the single best option box I ticked (which I ticked a lot of!)....wouldn't buy a car without them.

The ones in the first picture are comfort seats of some iteration, they have changed and tweaked the design over the years and are a wonderful seat the best I've ever used, (18 or 20 way adjustable) I had them in my F10 520d (not many specced like that) and I have the M multi function seats in my M5 which are the same but more heavily bolstered.

Thanks. So are we all agreed that if the shoulder section is not independently adjustable from the lower section and likewise has the additional button to effect that on the side of the seat base then they are not the comfort seat?

Comfort seats have the split back rest with independent adjustment of the top section, the seat in your original picture has the split back rest.

They also feature the "aircraft seat" style head rests whereby the additional padding you can see is moveable/flexible and can be pinched forwards.

Comfort seats as an option has always struck me as ironic - it's as if they're saying the standard seats are uncomfortable.

Well they're not wrong!
