So, just in the process of cultivating my first beard. Early doors, only about half an inch at the mo.
Just wondered, is there a beard owners nod or acknowledgement of sorts, as you get with bikers or certain cars?
Amazing how many beards are out there once you start. I'm like a moped rider at a superbike day at present, so avoid eye contact completely. But for those Spartan types out there, do you ever give a beard brotherhood nod or tug?

When you achieve stage 2 (about 2 feet in length) someone will be in touch to induct you into the brotherhood and teach you the "handshake".

I've heard it all now.

I don't think beards have quite the impact people who wear them think they do. I can't be alone when I see a beard on a guy under 50 I assume he's a homosexual.

No. I have a beard because I can't be arsed to shave. Not because I want to join some special bumming club.

Why is that, are you scared you might give in to temptation and sleep with him?

The thing about a beard, is the envy of those who have to shave because they can't handle the weight of manliness hanging from their chin.

Mmmm... yes that is definitely it.

You keep telling yourself that won't you?

Beards are too common to become part of a cult thing.

Strangers without visible tattoos on the other hand probably nod to each other when out in public (I say probably as I can't recall the last time I saw one, everyone is so desperate to be 'individual' with their tattoos that they've all got one now! biggrin )

Same. Although mine is just a bit longer than stubble. If your beard gets too long, then you start having to shampoo it and all sorts! Meh. Too much effort.
