Works well for me. I'm due to change my 435d in September '16 and I reckon I'll try a petrol. 440i ticks all the boxes - although I'm tempted by a 640.

Don't want to go over same subject, but when do you think BMW will start taking orders for the 440i gran coupe ? My dealer didn't know....

Similar sort of timescale to the recent 3-series facelift I would have thought (so if production of the facelift 4-series starts after the factory shut-down next summer deliveries of the new model will start from roughly this time next year in which case you'd probably be able to factory order one from around early July 2016). Not sure a launch date for the facelift 4-series has been confirmed but basically just work back 2 or 3 months from whenever deliveries are due to start and that's probably when you'll be able to spec a factory order!

ETA:
Think the 4-series was only launched in the UK last year and therefore to expect a facelift model next year might be a bit early; usually BMW let models run for at least 3 years before a revised version is introduced so not actually convinced we'll see a facelift 4-series before 2017?

I've seen mention of 4 series LCI being for 2017 model year, though that MIGHT be before the summer shutdown.

At least one source (in the US) has said that current 4 series production is only scheduled until March, which suggest that they could be beginning 4 series LCI production in April.

Man Id love to know - really fancy a new car - loathed to buy a 435i with looming 440i - understand why BMW don't tell us there roadmap - but sure would like to know so I can figure out what to do!

I'm not sure of the etiquette of posting a link to another forum, but below is hopefully a working link to the US 2016 Model Year Production Map, which shows EOP (End of Production) for F32, F33 and F36 '435' series models as 02/16 in Munich, Regensburg, and Dingolfing respectively after 8 months production. (The '428' models are still a 12 month production run.)

Hence the assumption that there could be a 2017 440 appearing as early as April 2016(?)

I have a 435i GC, it's a great car. The 340i will be a touch more practical, but there is not a lot in it. You won't go wrong with either frankly. As for options...

M Sport plus pack - worth getting, adds the better brakes with the blue calipers and the HK stereo, which is excellent.

HUD - expensive, but worth it. You'll never need to look at the dials again. Add the speed limit display to compliment it.

Steering wheel heating - it's only £150, and it is very nice smile

Adaptive LEDs - expensive, but very nice. Makes night driving very pleasant.

Things I wish my car had:

Comfort access
Adaptive cruise

Things my car has that add nothing:

TV!

One dealer suggested week 10 on next year, but wouldn't be a lci, just the 440i engine to replace the 435i

Think I will wait for next year for the 440i...thanks all

Yes, sorry if implied -- neglected to add that consensus among US forum posters is that the new 440i's are largely about migrating to the B58 engine and not a full fledged LCI.

My car is due for replacement in June 2016, my dealer said I could order before summer but delivery would be September. This would only be confirmed next year unfortunately. I would have thought with the new CCoupe announced I would have thought the 440i would be sooner rather than later.

340i Touring would be my choice..

Although we've not had a previous generation 4GC, Touring residuals always seem that bit higher, personally think they're pretty cool too.
