When you compare Racing at the Crystal Palace, with Bromley Pageant tomorrow, it was a bloody bargain. BP is £15 per adult!!! To show my own car!! And £6 for children, and No Motorsport to watch. Palace is a tenner for adults and free for kids.
Palace is free to exhibit if booked in advance. I won't be going to BP.
It's actually 5 quid for driver plus a passenger in one make parking, has been for a couple of years.Palace is free to exhibit if booked in advance. I won't be going to BP.
If I remember well it's quite a big place

Owing to an oversight, will be slumming it in the nether regions of the OMP this time...
Hiya mate,
Yeah, i was there in the 120, did look out for you and heard you were there.
The show, well as you say,we've been going since day one, i think its not the same as how we knew it a few years back, more modern cars there than the classics that we're used too, but i think the organisers (Live promotions) should bring there prices down, for the public, also for the stall holders, and ultimately get more people through the doors, coz i think people and exhibitors are staying away, and possibly its because of over charging. A lot of people i spoke to said that they thought 15 quid was too much money to get in.

I'm not going back again. 40 minutes queing to get in, covering car in dust then attitude from the marshall. £15 each in, £2.50 for a small water. No ta.
I have to agree with you on this. I showed my Silver Shadow, traffic was as usual ridiculous, and the marshals are all damn right rude. They've had years to sort out the traffic issues, entrances etc so there's no reason there should be any trouble, but there is. I prefer it when the weather is not as good, fewer people who tend to be enthusiasts. Must admit it missed the dress code memo that said "tops off"
I'll continue to go at 5 quid a head to show my car, but I take my own food and drink. Traffic management is appalling as said - I live less than a mile away and it took me the best part of an hour to get in. Left early to avoid the bunfight of last year where for some reason nobody was allowed to leave for half an hour or so. Loads of people pushing in at the top of the queue and overheating cars, etc. Next year will arrive at 7.30 or so and leave by 2.
I do think they are a bit arrogant in their attitude and I wouldn't go at all if it wasn't so close.

I really enjoyed it this year! However I do agree the prices are too high both for admittance and food / drinks which must put a lot of people off.
Agree about there being more new cars each year although I was unsure if that was more down to me living in the past and forgetting just how old some of the newer cars are now (probably older than the series 3 e-types and TR6's were when I first attended).
As for the club stands, having been involved with organising some for both Capris and Alfa's in the past I know how difficult it can be to get people to commit and actually turn up, so in many ways the one make parking makes more sense and has also been one of the most enjoyable / interesting parts of the show.
Maybe there should be a pistonheads stand next year?

Maybe it's because I'm a child of the 70s that I prefer to look at the sort of autoste that was around then - morris marinas, allegros, Hillman imps, Renault 6 etc, rather than rows of identical stags or e types
Whilst I like and can appreciate a proper classic, my heart lies mostly with the 70s and 80s stuff...
