It's the gf's 30th in July and we are spending 2 weeks at her parents villa North of Alicante. As such we have decided to take a trip to Valencia to celebrate and booked a nice hotel.

I'm doing some research on tripadvisor and lonely planet but wondered if anyone here has been recently and recommends some nice things to do, or restaurants to eat at.

Thanks

I was a little underwhelmed by the 4 nights that we spent in Valencia, but the high spot was definitely eating at http://www.canallabistro.com/en/

This bistro is owned by a young Michelin starred chef who also has a teaching academy for Spanish gastronomy, we guess that he employs the smart students here. This was such a great place to eat, very simple decor, great friendly staff and fantastic tasting food. Not expensive for the quality and the local wine choice with spicy food was brilliant. Can't remember the name.

Loosely based on the notion of Tapas Vs world street food. We ate with friends and we all agreed that if we are arround in 20 years time we will always be able to say "Do you remember that meal in Valencia" Although we also ate at the No1 on TripAdviser, we will know it was not there.

Go to the bio park! One of the best zoo's I've ever been to. The misses loved it! Will see what else I can remember, we were out there in 2012 for the gp.
