Hi all

Can anyone recommend a decent luxury beach holiday, but for up to a week, rather than a 2 weeker.

Cheers

How far are you willing to fly? For a week or less personally I couldn’t be arsed flying more than 4-6 hours, it’s not so much the flight time as with jet lag going further afield (Caribbean etc) can really much you up.

Your money will go further in certain places but the pound is strong against the euro at the moment. If it’s just total R&R you want I wouldn’t be too fussed about location. Usually suspects of Spain (inc Balearics, Canary Islands) Portugal, Morocco, Croatia, Tunisia (been didn’t leave the hotel was a cheap week that we couldn’t knock anything about) Cyprus , Egypt, and Greece.

You’ll find most have plenty of upmarket hotels.

I just did a week in Mauritius, well me and my daughter tagged along on mummy's business trip, for half term. Jet lag wasn't a problem really only 3hrs in front of UK.

Lovely place, lovely hotel, lovely food and A/I so lots of lovely beersmile

Without a doubt the best purely 'beach' type destination I've been to.

But for 5-7 days???

Bora Bora. However, 5 days would probably just get you to arrivals and from there straight to the check- in desk for your return flight(s). Mind you, there still would be plenty of time for a few beers at the airport bar, though beer

Carib, all day long. You don't really gain much apart from extra hours in the plane by going to the Indian ocean. Its hot, lovely sea, lots of sun, same water activities. Grumpy fker staff though compared to Carib friendliness, doubly so if its the Maldives.

Then again it does rather depend on how much of a tt you are and what kind of crowds you fit in with.

Sal or Boa Vista, Cape Verde Islands. Nothing but beach and all inclusiveness in fine hotels.

That excludes the Maldives and Mauritius then! Caribbean at a push, but that's hurricane season.

North Africa it is! Find somewhere posh in the Canaries is my advice.

Yes lots....what would you like to know. I had a girlfriend who worked at a school there a couple of years ago and find the country very interesting and somewhat refreshing in a cultural manner not found in the UAE and elsewhere.

Not at all. the people are very open, so long as you show them respect...but they are not as fanatical as elsewhere. Great beaches, epic foods, stunning scenery and history. Easy to get around with any issues and just a very refreshing country wanting to invest in the right sort of tourism, not following what its less cultural cousins have done.
