Had some spare time Monday so was flicking through PH. Saw a mention of a Maserati Gran Turismo. Had a browse of the classified as you do, just being nosey. Bought one today. Would have bought it yesterday but the dealer didn't get it until late afternoon. Had no intention or inclination of even looking for a new car Monday morning, let alone buying one.

Pick it up in two weeks.

I don't tend to mess about but that was pretty quick off the mark, even for me! Now counting the days down until we can collect.

It's a 4.7 GTS auto. Rosso Mondiale with Nero interior. Bose, Comfort Pack, all four carbon packs, Trident Mercury wheels, single rate suspension.

It's exactly what I'd spec bar the red stitching on the centre of the seats. Amazing find as I went to the dealer with an enquiry about a new one they had in stock and it just happens that they were collecting this one on Tuesday.

No recent pics as its so new to them but this is it from a previous sale:

Test drive was fun. It's a big car. Very weighted steering, goes reasonably well and sounds amazing on full chat. Lots of room in the back (relatively speaking), well put together interior and it looks fabulous (darling). Getting very excited, can't wait to get to know it better biggrin

Congrats. Lovely car, enjoy it in good health.

The GT-S is probably the only car I sold which I would happily buy again.

After a year or so of obsession I finally bought a GT MC Shift 2 months ago and couldn't be happier. I was expecting a big compromise over my many years of BMW ownership in terms of quality etx but I can't fault it.

I can see me keeping this one a long time. And I've still yet to hear a better car period !

Well done - I nearly had to sell my MC shift due to an impending house extension (would have had parking issues) but the council threw my planning application out and my architect thinks we should apply in stages - so no extension until at least next summer hehe

Which means I get to enjoy her all summer yet again - I love the damn thing; it's an event every time I fire her up - no way comparable to a BMW M or Mercedes AMG at all - complete different ball game IMHO

Enjoy your care in good health and do join Maseratiforums.co.uk where you will get loads of useful info on these beer

I looked into the MC vs auto discussion and came to the conclusion that auto would be better for me but that I could live with MC if needs be as the majority of cars have the automated manual box so holding out for auto would seriously limit the number of cars available for consideration. We had a Continental GT Speed and I used to prefer driving our old S Type Jag with slush box round town, I like a lazy drive when in traffic.

However, as luck would have it this particular car has all the benefits of the MC spec but with auto box. Result biggrin

Will be planning a number of continental road trips this year. Ive no plans to use the GT on track but it will be a jolly good fun way of getting to Spa, Nurburgring etc and then hire a suitable track car when we get there smile

So on your car if you press SPORT does it make the exhaust louder or does the loudness only kick in at around 3000RPM?

I didn't take that much notice but seeing as it did get extremely shouty when being given beans I'd say only after 3k. I'll let you know for sure when I take delivery.

Thanks - the reason I ask is that on the MC shift the sport button makes the exhuast sound lovely from standstill; the sound bounces off walls and the exhaust clears it's throat and crackles and pops like crazy! It's just bloody addictive! biggrin

It's that sound that did it for me. The autos I drove did not sound the same but Maserati came out with a few variations so they may have changed this as things progressed over in Italy :-)

Allegedly the "exhaust" only kicks in on the auto after 3k revs but the full fat MC shift starts from ground zero

With the Auto's if you knock the gearlever over into manual having already pressed the Sport button you should find the better exhaust noise lower down the rev range, not quite the same as an MC shift at idle however.

Depends on model year, gearbox and whether the sport button is pressed but 430-460PS.

Very nice, I think they look great in red, I very nearly bought a red one but it was sold the day I went to view it and I ended up with a black one which also looks great.

It's only louder after 3k rpm. I find myself trying to drive everywhere at 3001rpm!

I haven't tried it with the lever knocked over to manual.
