I'm trying to order from JEGS in U.S. But shipping charges seem very high to the UK.

I've looked at a forwarding address so that I can consolidate with other items from elsewhere but haven't found a forwarder that the likes of FedEx will deal with. They also seem to demand authorisation ID for shipments via USPS.

Any ideas?

Perhaps find a friendly US forum member who will ship it on to you? I know Summit Racing ship free in the US, so you should be able to avoid dual shipping charges, although state taxes might apply.

That said shipping charges to the UK are extortionate these days, USPS is probably the cheapest (check at http://postcalc.usps.com/) and unfortunately most major stores only contract with UPS or FedEx who have high on costs for the customs brokerage.

I'd offer to have it shipped to me and forward, but I'm rarely in Reno these days as I'm on contract in Canada. Depending on your urgency and timing I might still be able to help if other options fail. The beauty is that I have a Summit Racing store across town in Sparks, although local purchases incur a 7.725% sales tax.

I use summit racing and the iParcel service - you get all the costs up front, inc VAT & Duty paid upfront as well so you know what you're dealing with.
The shipping costs are a lot lower using that service. e.g. on a pair of $625 cylinder heads, shipping cost = $98 for iParcel vs 212 for UPS Saver (comparing best vs worst). Only downside, iParcel is a bit slower as it's a consolidation service I think.

And FWIW, I also find Summits site better, better stock control so you can also see if they have stock in their international warehouse before you order. Have bought loads off them over the years.

Many thx for replies and to you Joules for your offer.

Looking at Summit, they seem to have the advantage with the I parcel service.. I will use that on this occasion. But I echo the comments re the duty seems extortionate, not Summits fault.
