Sold the old girl yesterday, first to see paid asking price (I gave him £50 off for being a decent buyer!).

Not bad condition for 20 years old.....

Probably be a couple of years until I get something I fancy (VFR1200F or K1300S) as a large extension is going to put a stop to any frivolous purchases.... Sigh!

New engine protection covers installed.

Very nice - I've been looking at the same things (shutting the gate after the horse has bolted!!). On the 2014> model there is a small infil on the fairing that has to be cut, but main thing - does the cover make contact with the case, so when removed there might be light scuffing, or does it sit proud?
Cover the inside and engine in high temp grease or something that wont burn off, with your all weather riding and the bike washing you do that's corrosion heaven under there. I've seen casings look a right mess after having these on. No good for your OCD

It was my concern too... biggrin

I've had the timing / pulse cover on for a couple thousand miles now and removed it as part of the install. There are no marks on the case, the covers do seem to sit slightly proud and are very solid.

That's good to know. smile

Is the clearance big enough to get a thin, ACF50'ed cloth fed down to clean/protect?

The alternative are the R&G 'non-cut' fairing bungs, but these are not a nice design.

No chance of getting a cloth in there ... but in all honesty removal is barely a five min job. The tricky one is the clutch cover as one of the bolts is under the fairing edge so a bit tricky to get at...

I would just rinse out regularly with soap and water. smile

You need to hang off more, seriously, it looks like you are right on the edge of the tyre, not a lot of margin for error there young Tom.

FFS new (old) bikes are a pain in the arse

Me: 'Has it been well looked after?'

Seller 'Oh yes, my brother is a top mechanic and gave it a good going over last month'

my arse he did

Apart from snapped bolts in the exup valve (I expected that), a seized chain adjuster, a filthy air filter, finger tight rear axle nut and brake fluid that was black it'd been really well looked after, grrrrrrrr

Oh and I forgot the immobiliser that is doing a sterling job and has failed, so it currently doesn't run frown

WTF is that? It looks like a caliber and pads that have been camouflaged in desert storm colours.

Doesn't look like the brake pistons have been cleaned in a long time.

It's 30 thousand miles of grime and ste, that has never been cleaned, it won't be like that for long don't worry, I'd have probably walked away if I'd given the bike a more thorough going over but I'd just dropped the GXSR on myself and was in a lot of pain so the usual checks didn't really get done, it'll be grand once I've fettled it.

I know I need to work on it, I'm constantly changing position at the moment learning what does and doesn't work. Unfortunately I'm still waiting for the official pictures to be uploaded to see what I was like at different points round the track. My mate also has a lot of video of me (where that picture came from) that I haven't seen yet.

Having said that, I was hanging off more at the end of the day and getting my knee down on most corners whereas it barely touched earlier on. I thought that my last lap was my quickest but actually it was earlier in the day so it's hard to work out.
