I love speculation over the future of motorcyles based on motorcycle spy shots.

I reckon this will evolve into a friendly charismatic litre superbike, and then the they'll make the 1599 styled like a bent over supermodel with an ivory trellis frame, whale foreskin seats, and more precious metals than were buried with Sir Jimmy Saville. All so they can tap into the emerging market of rich blokes spending st loads on bikes to keep in their garages. Who of course, then sell in ten years for even more money to even richer blokes to sit in their garages.

Realising it has created it's own gap in the market however, Ducati will release another 750cc bike. This will be powered entirely by "thinking you look cool", as such it will easily exceed 200mph topspeed. The, "I like to pretend Ducati is the Ferrari or the bike world, not the Alfa Romeo" powered versions will likely be powered by sufficient delusion to break the sound barrier.

Depending on how much you want you spine shortened on your trip to the nearest half pint of guest Ale, the "R" or "S" variants will be available. The "X" for the inevitable 70% resin track versions with no mirrors. They will be in every way inferior to slightly modified litre bikes, cost five times as much, and be as trustworthy around the track as my dog is carrying sausages from the fridge.

All bikes will have cutlery placed under the seat for that familiar Ducati sound, and the switch gear will be based on the children's game "lights-out", which will randomly deactivate in increasingly devious patterns so as to make the correct operation impossible.

Or they might just continue to stick another 100cc in it and upgrade the electronic aids for as long as it sells.

It was awesome. It made UK days seem unfriendly packed and rushed. I'll do a proper write up when I get some more sleep and sift through the photos/videos.
Here's a quick clip of one of the first days following Matt from small boys/no limits giving me a bit of tuition, and before he sorted my gearing out.
I didn't really understand the groups. The no limits people said it was inters/fast/very fast or racer so I went in the middle group as I've never been in fast before and despite feeling the usual pessimistic 'I'm gonna be ste and be in everyone's way' the pace wasn't that much higher than what I was used to. my little k1 600 did have some overheating issues and on the last day I think my valve got a tiny leak as I was loosing Rear tyre pressure every session I to the point where I had a big rear slide and slipt of the pegs and seat. so had to end at lunch time unfortunately.

New ZX-10R revealed. Looks the same but sounds like a pretty big challenge to the R1:

Have you got your conformation of provisional allocation then.
Yes mate - was super quick.... Emailed within a few hours. Number 2016R1M-00352 doubt that translates directly into any kind of frame number. I was quite late in the day ordering it - so doesnt look like they sold out within minutes or anything.
Nice. Get plenty of pictures up when you get it.

The Aprilia really does look modern and cutting edge next to the Duke.

Let's hear your track verdict on it (excellent I imagine... wink )
Sadly yes. Incredibly easy to ride. Seems Aprilia have made a few chassis tweeks and they've really made their mark.
Left right transitions under hard power are a doddle and the engine is just sublime. it revs SO quickly it's scary, and the top end power is comparable to the new BMW. My speeds at the end of the main straight were within a few of kmh of full fat race bikes and I'm still only running -1 on the front.
We're off to Phakia at the end of the month for a double header so we'll see how she goes on a fast power circuit.
I readily admit to loving Aprilia's but this is so far above the previous bikes it's ridiculous. You can even find neutral FFS!! How's THAT!! biggrin

Hope you stopped at Applecross for lunch? I love that part of the world. Cycled over the Bealach on my push bike last year, and then round the coast to Shieldaig, great views.

We actually stopped at Applecross for the night. Stayed at the camp site and had a very pleasant evening at the inn, they were quite a sociable bunch.

Who says Scotland in September is miserable? Here was the view on the way to the pub.

Up date on the CB 650 F. For those of you that have read my previous posts, I replaced the little CBR 300 , with a new CB 650 F. I looked at a few 'nakeds' that are available here in Thailand......no, I'm talking about bikes! The Kawasaki is very popular in Hua Hin, where I live, as the local dealer does a great job and has a very good reputation on after sales.
But, the 650 range are twins and around the same price as the Honda four cylinder.
I test road a Ducati Monster, the last of the air cooled models, but it was like ridimg a big hot angry compressor, and at 400,000 bht was over my budget. ( About £8000 ish).
Benelli have just opened a new showroom locally, and it looked a good spec bike, bit I was concerened about resale value, as they are now Chinese assembled and was still in the same price bracket as the Honda.
So, I took a trip up to the Honda dealer in Bangkok, Big Wing, and test road the CB range. The 500 was about £ 4000 with taxes and insurance, and the 650 was £5500.
The test ride was a short run round the car park, but enough to know I felt right on th bike and if I placed an order before the month end, I got free reg, tax and first class insurance too.
I added a few 'goodies' carbon rear hugger, Ermax screen and under spoiler, and the total bill was 300,000 bht. The exchange rate here is good at the moment, so the total cost was £5500 for the ABS model.
Delivery was three weeks, so my wife and I got a taxi back to Bangkok, and arrived ready for the collection. It all went pretty smoothly, but glad to have my Thai wife to do the paper work, as all the insurance etc was in Thai, and I wouldn't have had a clue.
A few hours later, we were away, and on the trip back to Hua Hin.
First problem, I was using my I Phone and Google maps to get out of Bangkok, but, unbelievably, bikes are not allowed on the toll ways, so we had to use all the side roads to get out.
It took hours, getting lost many times, but eventually got out on the main route back.
Then the skies opened and torrential rain fell for most of our journey, it is the rainy season here.
Riding back, in apalling conditions, I knew I had made the right choice. The bike rode wonderfully, smooth and comfortable with two of us, great lighting and tremendous accelaration to get through the Thai traffic.
I have now done around 1600 kms with the bike, using it mainly for saturday run outs with the local ex pat guys, and it performs better each time I ride it and get more used to it's capabilities.
There are some great rides up in the mountains around here, very twisty with good smooth tarmac, and this bike is in it's element. The riding position makes me more confident on fastbends than I ever was with the CBR , and it is a far more relaxed bike, a 300 k trip is no problem, even for an oldie like me.
Only thing that I have found as a negative, the throttle is very responsive, and can make the ride on rough Thai roads very 'jerky', as the bumps make you open and shut the throttle a small amount, but the revs go up and down easily.
Hope this has been of interest to anybody looking for a mid priced, mid range bike that would be good as a commuter machine, but a great blast dor the weekend as well.
The only downside on Honda ownership here is that Big Wing are in Bangkok, which is about 200 ks away, and sercises must be done by them.
I am using the local Kawasaki dealer to do my oil services, but if I have warranty issues, I have to trek back to Bangkok.
But, all in all I made a good choice in buying the Honda and hope to get a lot of biking trips here in the Land of Smiles
