Has anyone got one of those bolt, screw extractor sets you see advertised. Do they work. I've tried the factory screw driver with all hondas screws and it just sits there looking at me. I can't be arsed drilling out more.
Japs have a different cross-head screw driver, phillips & PDZ don't fit properly. Could that be your issue?

That might be why, I was using pozi drive headed screwdrivers. so I need to get myself some jis drive screwdrivers. Trying a Philips might help, as they are closer that than the pozi I use.

I did try the Honda screwdriver however, and it just wouldn't bloody budge.

There as a thread on this a while back - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=4&a...

Although the factory supplied screwdriver in the toolkit should fit well? hmmm

Tbf I'm only doing one caliper at a time now.

The daytona seems to be bad for pinching the dust seals. What I'm asking is after almost 20 track days and having the bike exposed on a trailer for thousands of miles. Is that a considerable amount of time to need to refresh these. Or should I be getting more life out of them.

Or have I just bought st seals. (I did use powerhouse as normal) so went for oem this time.

Not sure what the wear rate is but that seems high. OEM is always a good shout but don't forget Triumph don't actually make seals. They get supplied by someone who will sell to you for much less money. I can buy a genuine OEM Yuasa battery from Honda for £60 or get one from Yuasa from £30.

Do you mean the extractors you drill into the bolt? Yes they work very well if you have access, you just need a quality drill bit and I'd recommend an auto-centre punch to save you bending everything.

As said before the Nips use their own screws but the reason few know this is that you should be fine. I just use a Pozi, but I tend to use a ratchet with a suitable end to free sticky ones then clean the thread or replace, better leverage.

TZR you say, a bloke at work has been trying to buy one today. I think he is looking for a project type bike. I presume yours is a nice one ?
Defo not a project, similar mileage to the Hayabusa, still on the original tyres from 1989.

May have a buyer for that lined up but no cash in my hand as yet.

To clarify I bought Nissin ones. I never went to triumph as I never won the lottery. I've got some plus gas, I'll coat the fker and try the rachet trick. Failing that I'll buy the extractor kit or splash out on a impact gun...for the company naturally

So you bought the good stuff anyway, you'll need to consult one of the forum elders then.

LOL, if you want one fair enough but you won't need an impact gun for a fairing bolt you mad bd. Once you get the extractor in gentle use of an electric drill clasped on will be more than enough. Even then I'd be sure to use the clutch on a low setting as if the angle isn't right you will break the extractor (don't ask me how I know this).

The ratchet normally works. You may have to mash the hex screw attachment heads into the bolt a bit, but you're unlikely to reuse these screws again I would think. I just replaced a load on eBay for buttons and now they come out now.

Obviously cutting a line down them with a hacksaw then using a larger "blade" type screw bit is also possible but I'm guessing these screws are recessed.
