Good Day

I was wondering if someone could help. my 2 L Sapphire has a type 9, 5 speed gearbox
About a week ago the fifth gear stopped engaging. Two days later the gearbox started whining. So i found out: to get it repaired would cost more than to buy a second hand one.
I can get the 4 speed bullet box but i don't know if it would fit. Any Ideas?
Thanks
Saber!

Its not the same clutch or prop joint. Location under the car is also different. Bellhousing is the same. Will need a clutch plate, alternative clutch fork also. Plenty of type 9's around in the kit car circles.

BGH geartech and Burton Power have a vast selection of standard replacement kit and rebuild services plus also supply standard recon units on an exchange basis. Might be worth a try?

First off have you even botherd checking and or topping up the gear oil ?
secondly the new box, is it a REAL bullet box or just a 2000E box,? only the close ratio set used by ford in motorsport is a bullit box with the normal ratios it's just a 2000E box wink as said the input and output shaft splines are differant so you've need a differant clutch and flywheel and prop, just get a 2nd hand type9 they usually make about £150 or rebuild yours, kits are about £60 for bearings, seals and gasket, as long as it goes and stays in gear the repairs are easy enough to do, i refurbed a diesel type 9 a few weeks ago, there are videos on Utube showing how to do it, i often download Utube vids to my tablet and take then into work to watch before attempting a new job.

So i bought the box.
Surprise, surprise... it didn't fit. Out of desperation with no knowledge of gearboxes whatsoever, I started opening up the 5 speed. The little pin that engages the fifth gear fell out. Is there a way to secure the pin more tightly? Maybe some sort of Epoxy? I'm planning on fitting the box this weekend so any suggestions would help.

I fixed the box and put it back

now when i release the clutch (in any gear and neutral) there's a sort of whirring sound. I replaced the Thrust bearing but now i have this noise

Thanks in advance
