I watching the Blancpain GT race at Spa and as always, I'm struck by how awesome GT cars look. The BMW in particular, I'd love if they made a road inspired version of that.
The Z4's sound awesome in the flesh and especially when driven by Marco Attard thumbup

I'm supposed to be at a big birthday bash tonight. 300 guests, marquee and bar, plus a really good live band.

Nope. Curled-up in bed with pains.

It's not bloody fair, y'know. frown

Not before you listened to this, I hope:

Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

How did such an influential musician escape my notice for so long?

Working with lots of good ol' southern boys, they like the Sisters. Try Mahalia Jackson, she can give it some wellie.

Yes, Mahalia Jackson popped up in the suggestion list on YouTube.

There's some good evenings in store.

I can see you with your short trousers, cap and candy floss; eyes shining with innocent anticipation.

Ooh, toffee apples as well. Haven't had a toffee apple in ages, now want one.

Got a pineapple on the window ledge, may do that in the pan with butter, brown sugar and rum. Sort of grown-up candy apples.

Can I borrow the TT 88mm gun? I have tapdancing roof seagulls that need a refresher lesson in how to fly.

The blunderbuss is in the gun cabinet in the CO's Office, would that do? Black powder and muzzle loading it's an excellent bird scarer. It's in the CO's gun cabinet rather than the one behind the bar because we had to take it away from Battert the last time he decided Russian Roulette was the answer. No end of explaining would convince him you needed a revolver to stand any chance at all of survival.

The 'bus will do. I shall return it later.

Latest news on the Sunderland? I recall it was in for a scrape and a repaint. Any chance of taking it for a spin later? There are some Flappers I want to hear cooing.

You're most welcome to take it but the excitement may come from quarters other than you might expect. Because it's sitting on the canal with the wings and engines off it has to be towed up to the village and back using the horse. The excitement all happens courtesy of the landlord at The Anglers who isn't at all keen on the disruption this causes to his trade. The poor man will have a heart attack. And whatever you do please don't try and negotiate the lock at The Heron. The cost of craning it out last time put an intolerable strain on the Towers Sports & Social Club budget.

Yo.

Doing nothing today.

Watching Spa 24 hours again.

I can report the Towers sports and social budget is precisely£2.96.

Ask Battert but don't mention the Sunderland. Tell him you want to enter the Point to Point or something.

We've had all this before. The £2.96 is not the budget. It's what remains of the budget after numerous absurd and unjustifiable expenditures. Who hired a limousine to get to a planning meeting with the WI, for example? What was their role at the WI planning meeting? Guest of Honour? It's all very well putting the receipts in the tin but some sort of explanation would be nice.
