Lots of good stuff on here this week!

The pebble watch looks good value, and the unicorn and exploding kittens - stballs crazy!

Got my Pebble yesterday afternoon. Tomorrow will really tell whether my wrist vibrating for messages is a good thing or not. It's a cheap entry to the smart watch world, but it may become the Betamax standard, now Android Wear and Apple have got behind the idea.

As a young navy pilot, I actually got to fly a Sea Fury a few times, just as they were going out of service.

Probably the most fantastic thing I've ever done. So when a rather beautiful remote control 1.2 metre model came on the market, I couldn't resist. It really is a bit more plane than I have the ability to handle. I was lucky to get it back to earth undamaged the one time I've flown it.

I've bought an easier model to practice on, but have now bought a Sea Fury for my son, for Christmas. I will at least be able to watch one fly, while I'm getting good enough to fly my own.

Any of you other older farts noticed how much slower we develop skills once into our 70s?

A sigma 17-50 f2.8 lens. I've got 2 that cover that range and f-stop already, whoops. Shall be good for Christmas shots though.

I got one of these in the Amazon lightning deals. Very happy with it and it looks amazing.

The only negative is the leather strap. It's a bit "feminine" as it's so narrow so I'll have to buy a nice replacement.

Complimenting the watch, I got one of these. My old scale is perfectly good enough but this one has wifi and an air quality analyser thumbup

It arrived today so looking forward to having a play with it and letting me know how fat I am.

£175 so not bad. I used to use a fitbit but it looks ugly and I didn't like it on my wrist. I also found having to charge it every 5 days a pain in the butt. Withings also do cheaper watches too. They have the bottom of the range "Pop" which is pretty cool also and the middle of the range "Steel" which is the one I originally bought before replacing it for the top end "Activité" which is normally significantly more expensive, but you get a much nicer face, leather strap and sapphire crystal display. The internals are identical so you're paying for looks only.

If you're after a classy activity tracker, this is the one to get.

What's the 100 dial? Percentage of target exercise?

Exactly. It's just a one glance dial to tell you how close you are to your steps goal. I love the simplicity the and the ease of use.

- It tracks your steps all day
- If you swim, it'll track your swimming without doing anything (not tried this yet)
- When you sleep, it detects when you're sleeping and works out your sleeping rhythms
- You can set a silent alarm and it'll vibrate when it's time to wake up although I think this feature needs some more work. There is no snooze function like the fitbit and after 12 vibrations, that's it. The wake-up call ends. I think it needs to be a little better than this but Withings have said there are updates on the way.

If you want more details, you can connect it to the app by bluetooth and it gives you all the data you need within the Withings app.

It's all very neat and clever. I don't have the scales yet but expect them to be on the way soon.

Any recommendation for "open the box and play" games to play with up to 10 friends on a drunk night in?

Main game for the night will be Risk, but want to buy a second game that's easy to pick up as and when people lose and drop off from the Risk table.

Card based games are good if you have a group
  • Fluxx (Basic or Monty Python versions are best)
  • Exploding kittens
  • Munchkin (I've only played the basic one but like Fluxx there's loads of different versions
  • Bohnanza

If you want an alternative to Risk then Diplomacy is a good way to fall out with people biggrin
