Just joined the 1299s club!
Went to a Duc dealer on Saturday on my 1198 for a demo. Asked if he had any available and said there is 1 that was supposed to be going to a guy this week but asked to delay. Mine if I wanted it!
I picked it up yesterday! smile

Helped that I got £600 more for my 1198 than paid for it 20months and 4000 miles ago!
First impressions are it feels like a 600 dropping in and loving the up down quick shifter! How did we manage without this before!
Like how you can dial in or out either the traction/wheely/slipper whilst on the go with + - buttons
When looking to change my RSV4, Ducati offered by far the best part-ex deal - 50% more in one case(!!), 20% more in general.

I'm sensing a very big mark up on the 1299S biggrin

Enjoy it - great bikes.

Well, had it a week now and I have to say I'm bowled over with it!
First service this morning and been to Cadwell tonight!
It is proper ballistic! biggrin
Only issue is it Felt very snatchy/hesitant around 5-6k! -possibly to do with the exhaust flapper valve sticking?
Possible solution is to lock wire it open?
Apart that the bike is amazing! I'm no BSB rider but was still reeling off 1.40s even with traffic!
55deg on the lean angle smile
More to come when I get it dialled in and some racetec's on it!
I love this bike!
Had it set to fixed suspension, dtc1 and it was perfect.

1299 does quite well.

Couple of laps data smile

Fixed suspension with a bit extra compression and rebound, ebc2 and everything else on 1.
Great constant laps and gentle traction intervention on full power corner exits.
But I Would really like to understand the very pronounced hesitation around 5-6k rpm!
It also feels quite snatchy like a slight disconnect or delay in response to my throttle input!?

Funny this...
A mate is reporting the same thing on his. He's fitted a set of Supersport headers and Termi exhaust and is saying it has a pronounced flat spot off slower corners.
Might be worth popping it on a dyno to see what the fuelling is doing through the rpm/throttle range.

Which Termis has he fitted?
I'm looking at getting the new front exit type, although have not seen an official termi up map for them yet for the 1299?
Have heard about tune boy but don't know much about them?

I think this is part of the problem. The system is a true Termi Superstock 1199 pipe and can but without any ecu /chip/reflash.
I've advised him to get the bike on the dyno to check the fuelling but there's been some added issues. The starter cable touched the front header and melted, causing a ton of faults.
If you're looking for a 1299 pipe, go with the proper 1299 Akrapovic. It's 3 kgs lighter than the 1199 Termi system and comes with an ecu reflash.

Looking at getting the bike on a dyno after I get some more miles on it.
I Think the front exit Termis are the way forward with one less bend!
Can be had for £1500 off the bay wink £2.6k for Akra slip ons and £3.6k for a system no matter how well made is crazy!
Can you tune a/f etc on the standard ecu?!

It's an S.
Lap data is collected in race mode, the flash button starts the clock and hit it again for each lap.
To view the data push and hold lower menu button for about 3 seconds until setting menu appears, got into lap sub menu and viola etc

I'm finding this bike to be great on the road. Probably the first ducati I've ridden where you can just cruise about and let the people admire because the power delivery is so smooth and its so comfortable.

Sounds like the Panigirly is perfect for the Starbucks run whilst admiring your reflection in the high street windows! rofl

Lol it is the first bike where I occasionally admire myself in shop windows rather than filtering. Girly though, I had to re-swallow my dinner yesterday the bike pulls so strongly.

I've just spent 3 days rattling around Wales clocking up 800 miles with my bro' - nice a steady runs and was amazed at the fuel consumption, I saw 130 miles appear on one stint before the fuel light came on - that's about 35 miles than my old 1098. The computer (not sure if I am to believe it) was showing mid 40's.

(Caveat: lots of 5/6th gear roll on/off sweepers, kept the speed down and lots of short-shifting to hear the bangs and pops!)

I can understand the reviews now, after having a 1299 for 4 days over last weekend. I managed a few hundred miles on it riding my favourite local routes

Well, what can I say, that's not already been covered ? ...it is quite frankly awesome in every way, and offers insane levels of performance.

Quite simply it must be the fastest accelerating road going vehicle I've ever experienced. I only managed to sample the top end of 3rd/4th and the pull from 8k up is mind blowing. Just riding around from 3-8K revs its a superbly fast and flexible road bike

I didn't experienced any issues, perhaps other than it didn't feel too happy at sub 4k revs in 30-40mph limits...but that's not where its supposed to be anyway wink

I just left it in sport mode, upped it to full power, left all the gizmos on default. There is so much an excess of power everywhere the electronic safety net is quite welcome for experienced amateurs

Every time I ride a modern superbike they seem to have got smaller. Its like a 1299 engine in a big 600 or 750 chassis, just an amazing package all round. Then, as I usually ride a naked bike, every time I glance down, I seem to be +40 on all the straight bits ..sorry officer

Priority for me on bike choice since 2008 has been comfort. A big accident took me out for 2 years, and nearly stopped me from walking/driving/riding so I enjoy every opportunity I can to try the latest bikes. Ultimately, the 1299 was nowhere near as extreme riding position as I had imagined. Certainly, way better than many sportsbikes of yesteryear and every other Ducati sporsbike ive ridden in the past.

Still I have to admit to myself, it was physically too much hard work for me, and the whole concept of the bike is a waste when all I need is something for comfy road use

For those of you lucky to own one of these superlative machines, enjoy smile

Question for fellow 1299 owners!
How are you find finding the power delivery above 10k rpm?!

Notice on mine it seems reluctant to hit the limiter in 5th/6th
