I never learn. Building two kits at once takes at least three times as long as building them one at a time, but whatever; the Mosquito is more of an experiment, right? I wanted a grey/green Spitfire to go with my Mk.1, and since I've been a bit Beaufighter curious for a while, when I saw this I thought it would be rude not to get it:

I believe the Spitfire dates from the '90's, and comprised relatively few parts, and pretty sparse interior detail. This won't be much of a problem with a closed canopy though:

With the exception of some seatbelts, this will be OOB (really this time), although I'd like to finish it without invasion stripes, so I've got some alternative decals in the pipeline.

An hour of cleaning up the parts allowed pretty much the whole model to be assembled with Tamiya tape, with very little evidence of any significant gaps or fit issues. One of the cannon fairings had got broken in the box, but a bit of work with a drill and brass pin will soon fix that:

A decent 1:72 Spitfire is always a good model to build...

I take it you've never attended a plastic model show?

Never attended either type of plastic model show!

I work with an aviation enthusiast, I'll try it Monday a.m. We get a little competitive sometimes...

I pop in here for the RC, and to admire what my clumsy hands could never accomplish! Such patience and dedication!

My painting and masking skills amount to precut window masks, trimming and masking some wheelarches, scuffing the shell with a brillo and then blasting the inside with black paint! I do get to put headlight stickers on as well...

I did build a Beaufighter when I were a lad, and a few Spits: but never to anywhere near your standards

Any model shows Essex way?

The biggest one would be the Southern Expo at Hornchurch. The next one will be in March 2016.

I haven't been to it for a long time but it is - as far as I know - the only two day scale model show hosted by a club.

It might just be my puerile mind, but I think that that was a pun from The Doctor:

Beaufighter-curious / bi-curious
Non-scene / nonceing?

You've thought about it more than I did...I'd better just get on with it!

That's great! I think someone does a kit of it, including the beer barrels.

I've read that landing a Spitfire with that extra weight was an interesting experience for the pilot, until he got used to it.

This/they will be good I reckon

Sat back here relaxed and trying to get alcohol / metabolism balance right after most of a week in Le Mans

Which might be what makes me a leetle bit suspect about the Spitfire's wing planform

It seems to need the outboard trailing edge fetching up forwards' a tad and bring that lovely crescenty sweep into play

Can anyone see what I mean?

Hmmm, more woodgrain. Tempting, but this really was going to be OOB.
