You're all now literally speaking in code.
Good point about wanting a GOOD manual box, though - as I have said before, I would take PDK over a bad manual box with a stty clutch. I don't think that's controversial. Most of us are ultimately fairly open-minded.
If I didn't enjoy changing gear, and I wouldn't with a loose, long throw box and mushy delayed clutch pedal, then I might well go for a PDK. A bad manual set up is a really easy way to ruin a car (as is a bad auto box).
The 981 box and clutch are good (barely), so I would still prefer a manual if buying a new Porsche. But if they got much worse, that plus the horrendous gearing would drive me into a PDK or an older manual Porker.

it did for me. Utterly pointless on a road sports car if you can't at least use 3 gears before losing your licence. Porsche crossed my line in the sand with 981 ratios, hence PDK for me. No pint in having a manual if it's more annoying/frustrating than enjoyable. Luckily I have the 993 for manual road kicksanonymous said:

My opinion is as I've stated previously, despite your claims to the contrary. No idea why you continue to believe you understand my views better than I do. I've not tried to misrepresent your personal, highly subjective views...anonymous said:

Or perhaps your opinion isn't shared by a number of people who know their own opinions perfectly well and don't need you to tell them what they think (or would think, if only there were as 'educated' and 'experienced' as you)...Edited by sidicks on Friday 3rd July 11:13

I suggest you read all of my posts. As YOU have agreed it is a matter of personal choice and there is no right or wrong - but somehow I don't think you believe it. The fact is that many of us actually do appreciate the delights of a manual gearbox but prefer the delights, technical superiority and convenience of a pdk for the type of motoring we do. Most of us have not the slightest problem with you choosing manual and, unlike you, have no religeous mission to make you see the "error" of your ways.bcr5784 said:

I wouldn't even say I necessarily preferred PDK-S over manual - I enjoy both and respect the advantages and disadvantages of each.anonymous said:

I've owned manuals in the past, currently own manual cars and will undoubtedly own manuals in the future. I also really enjoy using the PDK-S in my GT3. I've made that explicitly clear on numerous occasions. The fact that you continue to suggest otherwise is your problem, not mine.I'm sorry that my open-mindedness and ability to enjoy two different types of gearbox blows your mind and you don't have the intellectual capacity to comprehend how such a thing could be possible.

It seems we can add gearbox preference to politics and religion as topics, that are a total waste of time in discussing, if the end goal is to change the opinion of somebody else.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What is pathetic is trying to tell someone else that their opinion is exactly the opposite to what they themselves have explicitly stated it to be!!lsb said:

It's not a waste of time as long as everyone understands that I am right, and that if they don't agree with me they are wrong. Simples!lsb said:

I think the only person trying to change opinions is moose. Most of us are quite happy to attend "services" of all faiths and accept the validity of a wide diversity of religious beliefs.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
