Im an electrician and have been thinking of investing into a Multi-cutter for a while now.
Ive seen a few other tradesmen use them and have always been impressed.
I can think of so many jobs that it could be used for, however its not going to be a daily used tool so can't really justify £300 on a De-walt etc.
Also would prefer a battery version, as i have a hatred of mains powered tools! (the only mains powered tools in my van is a wall chaser and Henry)
Came across this for £80:

Ive used Erbauer tools before and always been impressed with the performance for little cost.
So do we think this is worth a punt? or anyone used/got one?
Cheers

Excellant i think i will pick one up tomorrow and have a play
If it turns out to be really good and used lots and batteries are useless i can justify a De-walt which i have a load of the 5AH batteries for.
My main thinkings for it are, for cutting floorboards right up to the skirting boards etc, will be interesting if it will make some nice clean chases in plasterboard (dot/dab) without making too much dust.

I use the Fein so no good to you but save yourself a few quid on blades by buying on amazon

ive got the 12v version of that
Good for dot and dab stuff as you want.
Yes it will do floorboards but it will take a few minutes to cut through,if you are not precious about the boards then you will still find a circular much quicker.
If you are using one a lot then buy the makita/dewalt but for occasional you will find it fine.
My 1st one broke down but they have a 2 year warranty and screwfix were fine didnt even my reciept the computer told them when i got it.
Ive also got an impact driver and small drill from the same "family" which are fine for occasional use and use the same batteries chargers etc too.

I have a Bosch one about 6 years old. It's invaluable for awkward places and cuts flush with flat surfaces - but is slow in action and only for light duties IMHO. It cetainly doesn't replace other saws, it's more of a get-out-of-jail-free tool. Well worth having in the arsenal though.
Blades can be expensive and blunt quickly as all the wear is in one place, but B&Q sell a pack of about 17 PTX blades for £20-£27.

Handily this Thursday Aldi have them in again.

12v battery for £30. 3 year warranty so keep the receipt!
Most of the tools are interchangeable with adapters. Get one that will take the speed fit type slotted tools that you don't have to wind the bolt all the way out.
I have a worx mains one picked up on sale as I have an equivalent hatred of battery tools that are never charged or the batteries die and cost a fortune.

I have a corded BOSCH one, its a great bit of kit, I can only echo the other comments by saying not sure how i did certain jobs before without it!
I also have a Bosch corded one and its pretty good. I bought mine to cut sections out of skirting boards, so I could fit wardrobes flush to the wall. Blades are pricey and they don't last very long IMO. I keep meaning to buy them off the net, but I always forget and end up paying a tenner for a blade in B&Q.
I've used mine more times than I was expecting.

I can happily confirm that after a few weeks of use, that I don't know how I managed before!!
It's been used a lot.
Has been very useful for, Cutting floorboards right next to the skirting, cutting socket holes in plasterboard, chasing plasterboard and dot/dab, chasing lightweight block's, cutting holes in lath/plaster.
The batteries are fine, lasts around an hour of heavy usage.
However it does vibrate a lot, makes your hand go a bit funny after a while.
Oh and 1920's lath and plaster stud wall does this to a new blade in around 20 mins! (But worth it, and amazingly still cuts with a bit of smoke!)

Im a sparky and I have had the Fein one for about 3 years now and couldn't be without it.
I use Sexton blades (eBay) they work out around £3 a pop and come in various sizes. As the previous poster said lathe and plaster eats blades, but at £3 who cares?
ITS london have a deal for the 110V or 230V version for £90 +vat.
Ive used a few different ones, Bosch, dewalt, Stanley and Erbauer. To be honest the Fein is the best one i have used.

Thats £1.60 a blade, worth a punt, even if they last 5 mins!
