Subaru Impreza STI WR1
Discussion
Hello,
Thought I'd give you a history of my cars to date after just getting a new one to me. I've read many of the other threads and they're great!
First car - Vauxhall Corsa .com 1.2 (2000) - Was a good reliable car, quite nippy for a 1.2 as it didn't weigh anything. It was also cheap to run which was a need when I was running back and forth to college. Sadly don't have any pictures of this car, the car in the end went to the scrap yard.
After getting my first proper job I had promised myself something a bit more sporty and fun. I went for a Clio 182 after dad tried to persuade me to get something more reliable and well built but it failed as the Clio just looked great fun. It got a reputation with my friends as the car could go around a corner at any speed you could care to pick, it just stuck to the road, did have an appetite for front tyres though. After having the car two years and half years I decided that it was time to change cars and try something different.
I had always wanted a 205 GTI from when I was younger, I just thought they were cool cars. When I was 21 I decided that I had enough money aside to buy and begin to restore one. I paid £800 for it and have spent much more on it since trying to get it to look it's best. There is always something to do on a car of this age but it's hugely rewarding. The car is currently having its plastic bumpers and trim resprayed black to make it look it's best. I still have this one and it was run alongside my clio.
Here is my new one! I had been looking for one of these for a while and just waiting till I could afford one and persuade dad to come and look with me. I had wanted to get a car like this while I could still afford the petrol to put in it. I've had it a week now so still getting used to it, but it's a completely different animal to the clio. The acceleration is out of this world! The Impreza needs things here and there but they're mostly cosmetic so I am getting these done when I can. This brings me up to today where I have the Impreza and 205 as my cars.

Ive always thought the darker alloys really suit the paintwork for the WR1. Plan is to get it looking it's best. Alloys refurbed, a machine polish and some paint on the bumper and spoiler to cure its slight scuff and marks between spoiler and boot. Wouldn't look to mod the car yet as I'm only 22 and I think it'd hit my insurance even more.

Sound sensible to me, plus the WR1 already runs around 300bhp doesnt it? plenty quick enough really!I went from a Clio 182 to a Blobeye STI PPP and then back to a Clio 182 again lol. I loved the Impreza, it was awesome... but it just cost too much to run and I was too paranoid about it that overall I just didn't enjoy my ownership experience very much. Much happier with a car that cost 1/4 price! Yours looks awesome though and I hope you enjoy it more than I managed
A remap wouldn't gain that much as it's already essentially a remapped STI. Maybe 340, probably need a new exhaust system to get decent gains. Yeah I can understand the fun of the Clio as it cost a third of the Impreza with less to go wrong, but always fancied an Impreza from watching the rallying.
A nice selection of cars! I am in the same car now and like you couldn't believe the acceleration at first but now I have got used to it a bit I am toying with a map as well as some suspension mods!

My Oil has arrived. Whenever buying a new car it gets an oil change, just habit really, helps when my dad is a mechanic.
Nice car Carlos, great exhaust too sounds good. Is it loud inside the car at higher speeds? Had a bigger exhaust on my old Clio but at 70 it could get tiresome. I might be tempted by a suspension mod as the car has the usual knock on the rear suspension. The car will be getting new tyres soon too, gone for Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres.
