I fancy doing this trip mid July and would appreciate any tips on which route to take using the best route for nice driving roads, I'm not bothered about using motorways to make progress to the point were the nicer roads begin.

It would be nice to not come back the same way and would like to leave Zeebrugge on say a Monday and return for the ferry on the Friday ?

Any help would be appreciated ?

It's a lot of miles for a 5 day trip. First+last 1 1/2 days are probably going to be mostly motorway.

Once you've done RN south, I'd head back via Sospel and Col du Torini then Cime Bonnet, Col du Vars, Briancon, Col Lauteret, Col Galibier... Chambery then m/way back north.

July, so check Tour de France route doesn't clash with your plan.

There are some great roads in the Vosges (north of the Alps) so a good place to head rather than trek all the way south if you don't have much time.

This is what I'd do, head over the Voges region. You can then go straight down into Switzerland and over done smaller passes and head back into France through Chamonix. From there it's easy to get to Grenoble and the Napoleon

Thanks, I've done Switzerland and the passes then on to Italy for a few days a couple of years ago, so just fancy the drive down the Napoleon this year over around 5 days from the port back to the port.
