The US show is indeed proof that the presenters are more important than the concept.

The US show is often on TV here in Belgium, and it is dire. Perhaps it works for a US audience, but for me, the presenters are trying SO hard to be funny that it is simply embarrassing. I don't think I've sat out a full episode yet...
A major problem is that one of the hosts, Adam Ferrara, doesn't know a thing about cars (I'm sure at the start of the show he could only drive automatic!) and is just there to be the 'funny' one.
Should have replaced him with Matt Le Blanc instead - after his UK SIARPC appearance, as he could easily do the 'acting with humour' bit but also is quite the gearhead, and is no mug behind the wheel.

He'd be an interesting option for the UK too.

And the writers of Episodes would get a free script outline. smile

(In this week's er... episode, fictional Matt LeBlanc is offered a game show, and has a Ducati in his living room.)

This young lady appears to be Russia's answer to William Woollard.
I wonder if she would be interested in presenting the new Top Gear?

yum
I found her entertaining and informing. Clearly exactly what BBC needs.

My contribution to the discussion of co-presenter would be Jenson Button. I really can't see him taking any enjoyment out of his current situation, and he always comes over very natuarlly on TV.

He's a bit slow, I thought I announced this on 17th June hehe

He's gay too, so that's another plus for him.

Take one of his legs off and he'd be a dead cert.

Has anyone suggested Guy Martin?
Chris Evans mentioned this suggestion on the radio this morning? Had you written in?
biggrin

Apparently Guy Martin is Channel 4 only and Chris Evans wouldn't be able to approach him.

or just take out an Amazon Prime subscription and watch the original 3 presenters wreck a load more borderline classic cars in the name of 'entertainment'

With a reported £160 million in funding, I'd not be surprised if he is sticking pins in a Clarkson effigy whilst emitting a green hue.

Which is about the same as before. Double salaries for presenters though.

No idea but, will be interesting to compare Amazon's show(I hope they call it Upper gear, pronounced up'her gear :wavey Auntie) against that of the BBC.

I'm sure the Ginger One is very pleased/ relieved that they aren't going on any free to air TV channels, so there's no danger of losing the family audience in the near future.

Whilst TG was loved by car geeks the large viewing figures were achieved by it being an entertainment show which the whole family could sit down around the living room TV to relax and watch on a Sunday night, or even the 'I'll watch it because it's on and I don't like Call the Midwife' brigade - this is something that can't be said for a streaming service at this moment in time.
