Celica st185 gt4 timing chain rattle?

Hi all.

My celica has gradually developed what sounds like a timing chain rattle when under load (almost sounds like a diesel) As far as i am aware it has a belt not a chain so does anyone have any ideas what it may be before i start taking things apart

Could be a heatshield rattle? Being optomistic.

Did think of that as i had a micra years back with the same issue but its deffo a much deeper sounding rattle rather than a tinny rattle

Could be ringland failure.

Is it blowing out any blue smoke?

Could it be small ends, big ends?

It does, very occasionally, blow blue smoke if i sit idling for a while after a short run, just as it comes up to temp. It clears and doesnt return as soon as i set off again.
