Hi all...Having just bought a bargain '95 3.2 XJ6 without a CD changer ( but with a CD button on the stereo) I wonder if I can easily attach a CD changer to it...I happen to have an Alpine changer ( which coincidentally is the brand Jaguar used then) complete with the wiring....I wondered if there was a simple plug in socket somewhere on the car?....any help much appreciated...

I believe the wiring should be in place.
When I bought my X300 it didn't have the autochanger either so I had the dealer fit it and service manager at the time said it was just the changer that was needed. Look around the top of the boot, which is where it should live.
There are different versions of the Alpine changer. LadyB8's old MB had a unit which looked the same but hers connected to the head unit with a fibre optic rather than a wire.

Hi. I haven't got a changer on my x300 but the loom and plug for one was just behind the trim panel at the front of the boot which in effect hides the fuel tank.

I have a Jaguar disc changer that would fit. Jaguar branded too.

Not tested it and it doesnt have the CD cartridge.

Let me know if you are interested.

I also have an X300, but has a changer again with no cartridge.

The cable is in the boot on every model, whether it came with a changer or not. It might be at the top of the back panel, or it might be in the (left hand?) side recess, depending on the exact age. You will need the appropriate bracket to mount it in the correct place and you must make sure the changer comes with the very fragile disc cartridge.

Be warned though, those Alpine headunits aren't very reliable and the first thing to go is usually the CD interface. There's a part inside which can be resoldered, which might help, but it might not. I'm told even Alpine can't fix them any more when they give up the ghost.
