Local 'Street Race' in Croatia

Like hundreds of other arrive-and-drive weekends around the drag racing world, this weekend is our turn to put on the best dragrace show at our local airport we can afford. Fencing, ticketing, cash security, signposting, advertising, making a car park, sectioning off the pit area, erecting a small grandstand, putting in the tree and timing system, organising the marshalling, setting the up tech inspection corral, Public address system, timing ticket printing booth, printing driver instructions, organising the classes and ladders, getting power supplies laid on, drinking water truck, policing, miles of tensa barrier erection, food and drink concessions, rubbish collection, post race clean-up, dealing with airport rental contracts, making sure pilot don't try to land here during our time, night security, paying the invited pro cars (2), sexy car wash, custom car show, old timer show, first aid, fire trucks etc., ambulance, sponsors seating with sunshades..... tons more I can't think of right now.

It's raining.

That sucks. Althought to be fair, June is Croatia's wettest month, so I'd guess it was perhaps not entirely unexpected.

Usually, June brings heavy summer storms and then, half an hour later, it's all sweetness and sunshine.

Sunny day now, all tickets sold, all classes at max capacity (except the unlimited 'pro' class). Phew! Everyone can eat next week.
